Freezer Puncture-Need Help!!!

5 posts in this topic

Hello Toytown Community!

We have a gas leak in our freezer and it no longer works. We think we punctured the cooling which caused a hissing noise and smell so we turned off the appliance. We moved here from the states right before corona hit and our German language skills are elementary.

My questions are:

Has this happened to anyone and can it be repaired?
Is there an English language repair shop you can recommend?

Here are the details of the refrigerator:
Refrigerator: AEG
Model: SCS51400S1
Type: B256136
PNC: 925 613 725-05
Serial Number: 42200494

We looked up AEG servicing but the first appointments aren't for a week and we need help now.
Any advice you can give would be great.
Thank you!

I'd give any local household appliances shop a call and ask if they can help or at least point you into the right direction. Places like Mediamarkt will also repair, but it might take a few days.

beccac,

I don't think many places repair a refrigerant leaks in a refrigerator/freezer.  They are usually sealed units without ports to recharge or connect a gauge set to.

It might be cheaper and faster to buy a new refrigerator/freezer.

You can call the companies in your area asking for repair. A simple  Google searchsearch list many.  Ask them if they speak English or not.

10 years old and your looking at least 200 euros to repair your lucky, AEG where busy and saved you the cost of telling you its broke and uneconomical to repair. Maybe they knew that but did not want to tell you.
