Posted 27 May 2020 My wife and I are trying to apply for a private S-Private credit from Berliner Sparkasse (our bank) and we receive a constant "sorry, but for technical problems.." (see attachment). It might be a long shot but has anyone successfully applied for this online? Thanks, We wrote the bank and this is their reply: Quote Sehr geehrter... vielen Dank für Ihre Anfrage. Posted 27 May 2020 Taking a wild guess here, it could be that your credit rating is acceptable, but the amount of the loan you are requesting is too high when the debt vs income ratio is calculated in the decision. Having existing credit cards (especially ones with high credit limits) will also pose somewhat of an issue. But rather than cause you any distress by telling you "Sorry, your application has been denied", they would prefer for you to come in and discuss some alternative options in obtaining a loan.

We have no credit cards with them and we tried to even get 500 EUR in 12 months, different amounts and nothing worked. I am almost on the verge of asking someone with a Berliner Sparkasse account (possibly some rich person too eheh, nice car and a plethora of happy kids) to try... just to know if it worked at least past the first step. We're going to try and book a meeting and then report back. Do you know how they calculate the credit rating, maybe? Maybe it's a stupid question but..
Posted 27 May 2020 They take your Schufa score, and they average out your monthly income deposits (that should NOT be ALG!). They weigh that against common expenses such as average monthly rent in your area and such, and determine the probability of you being able to pay the loan back without backing yourself into a corner.

Thanks! That makes sense, thanks for the info! F
Posted 8 Jun 2020 Quick update: I tried to fill the form again on the Berliner Sparkasse web site.. and I got the same "technical error: because of technical issues we cannot process your request, please ask your bank directly".. on the web site. This means that since May 27 to today June 8th, the Berliner Sparkasse webmaster team has not solved a technical error that is afflicting the behavior of their credit line request for the online form (one of the main form of revenue for a bank, being lending money to an interest). I should believe that this is a technical error. Now, come on.. this is not.
