Is there anyone who can help me?

Hi, is there anyone who can help me, I've recently lost my job and my lack of german makes it even harder. Basically I want to start getting my money from the "Agentur fur Arbeit" I went there and I gave them all the information needed, the initial plan was to get my unemployment money in my home country which is a part of the European Union, I've heard that's possible, but I don't have any clue on how to do that. So I've been stuck here for the past 3 months, without a job, living on my savings. (I've been working here in Koln for the past 3 years) Is there any german around, or someone who speaks german and it is willing to help? I still didn't get any unemployment money so far.

In order to get employment money in Germany you have to stay in Germany and be available to work.

What you heard is transferring the unemployment benefits to another country, that's possible, but then you will be moved to your home country system and get the benefits according to their system.

Yea, so how do I do that? The thing is I'm still here for 1 more month, then I'm planning to head back home.

Have you already filed an actual application with the Agentur für Arbeit? Have you received any mail from them?

First of all, change your location. Your location makes a huge difference when applying for benefits.

Second you need to claim benefits first in Germany then apply for a U2.

Hello guys, I was wondering how does this work? I'm currently unemployed for 3 months and I finally received some money from the Bundesagentur fur Arbeit, I've been waiting a lot for this money and they finally gave me something, but as the situation goes by with the COVID-19 and my landlord, I would like to go home in the near future maximum 1 month after this post. So can they take back the money they already gave me? What is the procedure if I want to go back to my home country, does anyone know or experienced a similar situation?

I must say that I don't speak german at all, and I've been using google translate for every documentation provided in order to understand something and communicate with them. They paid me, but as I was translating some of those letters in one paragraph it says that they can oblige me by law to return the money or something like that, in another paragraph that they provisory accepted my unemployment benefit for a short term and so on. That was my main concern and had me wondering for several days. Cause I'm quite scared of being in a foreign country relying on english language only and so on. Any response to my post will be highly appreciated. Thank you and have a beautiful day!!

If you are an EU citizen and you are on ALG I, ask them for a U2 form which allows you to transfer your benefits to another country for up to 3 months.

https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/work/unemployment-and-benefits/transferring-unemployment-benefits/index_en.htm

If you are on ALG II, you can't transfer it.

In either case, if you want to leave the country, just let them know beforehand. The money you get is for time already unemployed, so you don't have to pay it back.

Add to that, after you get their permission to transfer benefits to your home country or another EU country, once you move, you have to register as unemployed in that country within 7 days of arriving there and you will get your benefits there directly for a maximum of 3 months.  After 3 months, if you don't find work, you can return to Germany and continue your benefits here if you are still eligible.

Thank you so much for your response, Where can I find what ALG I have? Most certainly I'm planning to go home in about 1 month from now.

Thank you so much for your response, basically, I don't have to worry much about it, cause either way It's gonna be fine, I was so scared...  now I just have to find what type of ALG I have, I think it's III but I'm not sure.

If you are getting benefits based on having worked in Germany for at least 12 months, it's a percentage of your wages and you are getting it from Agentur for Arbeit, it would be ALG I and you can transfer it.

If you are getting money based on being destitute and you had to prove that you don't have much money in your bank accounts or an expensive car, you are getting 400 per month plus your rent and heating and your money is coming from ARGE or Jobcenter, you are likely getting ALG II (Hartz4) and you can't transfer that.

See LeonG's answer above.

Ask for the U2 form as soon as possible as it takes a while to set up.

It helps if you have an address where you will be staying in the next country.

Would the Agentur für Arbeit be prepared to communicate via DE-mail in case he can´t give a postal adress? Maybe worth asking if that´s the situation.

The Agentur don't need to communicate with him but it makes it easier for the authorities in the next country.
