Pension contributions refund

7 posts in this topic

Hi everyone,

My girlfriend and I left Germany in January 2018 and we would like to know if we can get pension contributions refund (not the employer’s, but just ours).

We currently live in the UK, I’m Portuguese and she’s Moldovan/ Romanian (she has double nationality), so we’re both EU citizens living in the EU.

If we can’t get a refund, could we move our contributions to our current country of residence?

Thanks,

No and no.

Your only option is to apply for a German pension at retirement.

I would recommend filing a Kontoklärung now.

Must admit I do not really know, but I heard that you could get your contribution back if you paid in less than 5 years - but I have had no personal experience

I would try  going to

https://www.deutsche-rentenversicherung.de/DRV/DE/Home/home_node.html;jsessionid=3083C672FD76A4E2FE11918D7495DAA5.delivery2-1-replication

Click on the contact page and send them an email, with your german pension number, explaining what you want to do - but be prepared for a long wait for your answer.

Or try telephoning them

@engelchen, why do you say no - no, have you had personal experience of this?

A possible refund only applies to non-EU citizens who paid less than 5 years into the system!

Considering you are completely clueless, why are you even posting on this topic?

Why personal experience? Unlike you I know how to read. Is jebaism contagious?

EU citizens are not eligible for a pension refund!!!!

Just to better understand your suggestion, what's the advantage of filling this now?

Isn't it possible to move my contributions to another country? I paid less than 5 years into the system.

I know that this is possible in other countries, especially when it comes to state pensions. I know of people who've moved their contribution from Belgium to the Netherlands, for example.
