Duty and Mwst payable on product samples from China?

4 posts in this topic

Hi All,

Can I tap your brains please?

I need to order some product samples from China. Cost of the samples is around 10 EUR. Cost of the shipping is around 55 EUR.

Is duty and VAT payable on the entire 65 EUR import value? Or is there some type of Zollamt exemption policy on product samples?

I have some packaging samples also on the way from China. Value of the cardboard sample is about 50c. Shipping about 45 EUR.

Again - will I need to pay duty on the full import value?

Thanks

Brad

Smaug is correct.  The tax will be on the combined value of the item and posting.

OP, your post sounds like you are a business.  Is that correct?  If so, you will need an EORI number.  I could also be very wrong on this, but don't be surprised if these items get quarantined for rather obvious reasons.  Porous items coming from China....?
