Cancel holiday over corona virus?

What I did notice a week-last-Thursday (the 5th) was that there were no queues at all for security at Hamburg airport.  Straight in & through.

But Sunday in Budapest it took 10 minutes wandering around the lines.

Same here, HEM--two flights from Crete to Hamburg on the 5th  and two flights back on Thursday. Check in was fast. They did check my belt, though! (snake emblem) and three lipstick thingies for Nicole! " Haben Sie Flüßigkeiten? " " Keine Ahnung was meine Frau will."

I am so glad I didn’t go. Montenegro has banned its citizens from entering Germany as of today. Ryanair just sent me a refund link for my return flight.

Wife is scheduled to go into Reha but we decided to postpone not so worried about getting the virus but realized that if just one person is infected they will lock down the whole place and no way we (I'll join on the weekends) want to be trapped in a small room.

family member was scheduled to visit (currently in Finland but from US) before flying home and spoke and agreed that it was best to cancel. As too summer holidays very much up in the air, was planning on visiting Denmark....

Just got an email from airbnb about my booking for May, four nights mid-month. I'm still hoping it will be possible though I haven't booked my flights yet. I'll wait till the very last moment to cancel the bnb for a full refund.

I just cancelled my airbnb. I guess I won't be doing any travelling outside Ireland this year.

Now there's just my South Ireland tour in August to think about. A friend plans to fly over from Germany but I imagine she will cancel so I will too. What a shame.

Eta: Getting a full refund btw. Airbnb have a special ruling now that you can cancel because of COVID 19 for a full refund.

I just heard from a friend- stuck in Lanzerote  and no idea when they will fly back to the UK.

Daughter has confirmed they won't go to best friend's wedding. I'm relieved. They are just hoping the airline will cancel so as to get back the fare. Very, very sorry for the friend though. A whole year's planning down the drain; gatherings of over 100 have to cancel, and hers is 120 guests.

How does that work? Are they just stuck in a hotel room?

morocco implemented a ban on flights from EU until March 31.  They also shut the ferries down.

which means many people can't return to the EU until the ban is lifted.  France is determined to bring their citizens home but so far Germany doesn't have such a plan in place (at least not publicly).

They extended their hotel room- sea view balcony, wine and plenty of reading material!

Possible flight home during the week! That should strengthen them for the screening process.

She's probably booked venues and paid so she could still have it if only 99 ppl show.

Hopefully they will be flown back and getting meals in the mean time!

I wouldn't go to a 99 people gathering right now. Hopefully, they can get their deposits back and have a party later after the craziness. Many can probably not even fly there wherever it is.

There are currently no restrictions on German citizens or legal residents returning.  If you can get back, you won't be denied entry.  You may be asked to self-quarantine - which is a good idea no matter what.

That's great if you can get out of the country you've been visiting.

I know someone with family in this very situation.  It's not a joke.  France had to negotiate special conditions to fly to Morocco to pick their people up and take them back so hopefully Germany does something similar.

What a mess!  So much has happened since I flew back on 3/7 from Kansas City!  I read today that residents of Germany who have visited Switzerland within the past 14 days should self quarantine.  Of course I flew from DC to Zürich and then took my direct train home to Konstanz only to arrive back 7 days ago.  During this entire week my town and shopping trips have been filled with Swiss folks.  We peacefully and pleasantly coexist here on the border.  I haven't, but I could have walked 10 minutes away to Switzerland at any time.  Technically, should I be in quarantine now?  🤷‍♀️😱  Good thing is, I am set - no more shopping required here.  :D

My husband has just flown to the UK for a 3 week course :o  - I somehow doubt that in 3 weeks he'll be able to fly back. I did point this out. I will be surprised if the course is even on. Still, 3 of us there, 3 of us here, a parent in each country. It could be worse, One asthmatic boy in each place. The worse one is there, which is a bummer. He has been self-isolating, and the deputy head of his college has been in touch with him this evening to confirm that he is not expected to leave his digs for placement, which is good.

This is one of the reasons why I am not going on my planned trip to the US next week.  I can get there no problem.  I could even deal with a 14 -day quarantine, although my German employer would not like if if I were gone that long.  Coming back?  Iffy at best.  Could be easy - could be two months.

I can see why so many Americans panicked and left immediately, even though they weren't at risk for not returning to the US.  If you are outside of your country of residence right now, you stand a good chance of being stuck wherever you are for for the forseeable future.

Global Lockdown is coming soon.

How are you going to comeback from a distant place if there are no flights?
