I have a real problem with people ALWAYS looking for the cheapest thing on the market. Remember the old saying, "You get what you pay for?". This herd mentality is stampeding the whole world into the acceptance of low quality products and services and driving good companies into liquidation. In my opinion, these kind of people deserve everything they get..

Actually I miss WOW air.  They were dirt cheap but the planes were clean, the staff were pleasant, flights mostly on time, until they went bankrupt that that is.  Icelandair was always double the price but for that you get one free beverage and inflight TV.

My boss uses TAP Portugal a lot be he says they are often delayed.

TAP is a complicated company. They have excellent pilots, especially if you are flying to Azores or Madeira, as it is really hard to land there. Most of them are ex-air force pilots.

They were excellent some 5-7 years ago, but now it is going down the drain, I agree with the delay issue. Still, it is probably the best company for Atlantic crossing, both to USA and south america. So much that Lufthansa wants to buy them because they make hard competition there.

Forget about the beverage: Icelandair has the most blond and tall stewardesses in aviation :).

Update;-

I am very happy to report that the promised refund for my cancelled  holiday in Egypt has been credited to my credit card.:D That is almost exactly 30 days from the planned departure date but I can live with that. Next Lufthansa for now cancelled  flights booked to the UK next month, which were paid for via Paypal. Anyone know if Paypal will give a refund for cancelled flights?

if you don't get a refund from Lufthansa, you can open a conflict with PayPal. Make sure to have some record e.g. emails to Lufthansa that your flight is cancelled and you want a refund etc. If you don't hear back from them, open a conflict with PayPal, provide them the details etc. PayPal will then try to contact Lufthansa and if Lufthansa doesn't respond, you will get your money back from PayPal. takes around 10 days.

Dear Martinez,

Thank you for contacting Expedia with booking number 7521##### I was happy to check your booking. Unfortunately we cannot make any changes / refunds to your flight with Eurowings as it is a low cost airline. If you contact the airline directly, they will take care of it. I suspect a free refund due to entry restrictions is no longer possible. Thank you for trusting Expedia. Mit freundlichen Grüßen Z. Pupsova Ihr Expedia.de Kundenservice

This is one of the reasons why I don't use Expedia or similar sites - because of the lies, the misdirections, and the scams.

So, refresh my memory:  is this a trip you have yet to take, or was it one that you could not go on?  If you have yet to take it, has Eurowings canceled or rescheduled the upcoming flight(s)?  If it is a past trip that you could not go on, did Eurowings cancel or reschedule the flights?

This trip was canceled- date was march 27 to april 3rd

Eurowings canceled my flights but they cannot take care of any changes like rebooking, refunds or voucher because my deal is with expedia 😬

I sent an email to Lufthansa requesting a refund and complaining that there was no online option and their service centre was unobtainable. Got a quick response as follows:- BTW the link for the Service Center contact does not work.WTF!!!!

Dear passenger,

Thank you for your feedback, which we have already given to our Customer Relations Team for processing with the reference number (Feedback ID #+*+#####). If you would like to send us further information, you can reply to this email. Please always include your reference number in the subject line.

Please note: Inquiries regarding ticket refunds, rebooking or fare conditions will not be processed or forwarded by Customer Relations. All relevant information on this topic may be found on our website https://www.lufthansa.com/us/en/flight-information.

If cancellation is currently the only possible option for you, please contact our Service Center. Worldwide telephone numbers are available on www.lufthansa.com/en/en/help-and-contact. Thank you for your understanding.

you should then wait a few days for their reply. I found the service center link, it is  https://www.lufthansa.com/de/en/help-and-contact. There is also a 24*7 telephone number given (06986799799) so you can try to reach them by phone too.

What reply? They specifically say refund request will NOT be processed or forwarded. The link you gave just gets you to an FAQ, attempting email contact gets you Customer relations who responded as in my earlier post, telephoning their  24/7 service number just puts you in a wait queue forever. All very frustrating and I suspect deliberately designed to be so.

Sorry, i overlooked the 2nd paragraph. In this case, simply open a conflict with PayPal. Tell them your flight is cancelled and Lufthansa refused to respond to any queries. PayPal will then respond within 10 days...if Lufthansa doesn't respond to PayPal, you will get the refund from PayPal.

Answer from Condor...I opened a conciliation procedure with the SOEP (https://soep-online.de/en/the-conciliation-procedure/), if this doesn't work I'll use one of those agencies that take a percentage of the refund but handle the whole process.

---
We do not make the refund since the rules do not cover a worldwide pandemic like this one with all its implications for the aviation and travel industry. It refers to one-off cancellation events, but it cannot take effect, if European aviation comes to a standstill. That is also the view of the German Government which supports flight or travel credit.  Like other German companies, Condor follows the decision of the German government offering a flight credit.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Update: Got an email from Opodo this morning stating that they are not responsible for the airline and can not guarantee that the airline will refund the money or when.  They say the airline has up to a year.  They also said that they have now asked the airline for a refund on my behalf and need my IBAN in order to refund me the money if and when they get it back from the airline. Now, I did not book the tickets myself and so I replied to them cc-ing my friend who booked through his Opodo account stating that he had paid for the tickets and that they need to refund him.  They replied 20 minutes later requesting my friends IBAN.  He has now replied with his IBAN as well so hopefully we will see money at some point :)

Update:

Following the unsatisfactory email response I got from I got from Lufthansa I raised a complaint, basically saying that since they had cancelled my flights well in advance of the departure date (over a month) it was totally unreasonable to force me to wait till no earlier than 72 hours (the rule for contacting their service centre, the only place where you can request a refund) before departure to claim the money back to which I was legally entitled.

Last week I got a response to the complaint again saying that their Customer Relations were not able to deal with the issue but that they had sent my request for a refund to their refund department who would contact me shortly. To date the refund department has not contacted me so with the departure date fast approaching, next Saturday,  this afternoon I phoned the Service Centre, got through quite quick, they cancelled my booking and warned me that it would take more than the usual 2 weeks before I got the money back.

We shall see.
