Buying a house in Stuttgart in a family friendly residential area

2 posts in this topic

Which areas around Stuttgart in particular 20-30 minutes driving distance from Sindelfingen, one can find affordable houses with the following constraints:

- 4 bedrooms with a garden

- not older than 1990

- family friendly area with a mix of both German and expat population

Also is it a good time to invest in houses in Stuttgart considering the recent job cuts in Daimler, Bosch and other automotive suppliers?

The property prices and rents are already the highest even when compared to Munich [1]. But different from Munich, Stuttgart is heavily dependent on automotive and there are already fears that Stuttgart might become the Detroit of Germany [2] considering the heavy dependency Stuttgart's economy on the automotive industry. Munich on the other hand has more diverse industries e.g. telecom, semiconductor, avionics. Comments please?

Hi there. As you have already linked yourself. Affordable prices in and around Stuttgart are a thing of the past...

But you can get an Idea of prices by using one of the search engines...

https://www.immobilienscout24.de/

https://www.immonet.de/

https://www.immowelt.de/suche/haeuser/kaufen?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI0fXB4v2W6AIVxJTVCh23lgELEAAYAiAAEgJ80vD_BwE&ef_id=EAIaIQobChMI0fXB4v2W6AIVxJTVCh23lgELEAAYAiAAEgJ80vD_BwE:G:s

But you can also get in toch with the local banks and "Sparkassen" they also have a load of properties available.

If you work in Sindelfingen, then you can pread out in all directions. nearer to Stuttgart means higher prices. Anywhere near the S-Bahn will also increase the price.  We live in Weil der Stadt and prices have rocketed in the last few years , as BOSCH have built a R&D center in Renningen.

Moving to a villiage nearby can be a solution, but you should check out public transport first. Its always good to have a backup plan if you don't want to use the car all the time. Stuttgart has a very strict pollution zone. Only newer Diesel cars are allowd in the city area, and we are all pretty sure that older petrol engines will have the same fate.

Obviously if you move near one of the US Bases, you will have contact to fellow US citizens. But alot of Army personell live on the base. Many live around Sindelfingen, but keep to themselves. Life for them is on Base. But we do have a family that have decided to integrate and they just love it here...

I'm pretty sure it will take alot more to finish Daimler and Porsche off. As long as they are making Cars, the OEM's will Co-exist too...

Have fun house hunting...
