Seems that the Windows 10 cumulative update from last week (CW 7) includes   KB4532693 and this may cause loss of data and or user profiles on some computers. There are multiple reports on the net regarding this.

As ever, before patching any computer (even non Windows ones), a backup of your data is a very important prerequisite.

Microsoft has suggested a workaround which may work (but not for everyone).

Not only that it seem that after a recent Windows update I was unable to deploy a program I need to calibrate a customer´s systems, it left me high and dry this last week and caused an installation to crash and burn. Got there in the end with a different program but it was a long and hard and very frustrating week.

Microsofts solution is exceptional.

Create a new acct and manually copy all files over to it.

Suppose that`s fine unless you happen to have a few hundred gigs to copy over.
