We at the Radical Frame Film Festival are proud to announce the eighth edition of SHORT FILM SERIES – Berlin, Germany.

We are happy to present original and exciting short films movies from different countries.
Some of these films have received awards in prestigious international festivals and most of them have not been shown in Germany before.
The 2020 SHORT FILM SERIES - Berlin dates are 24 and 25 of March, 2020 with screenings at the

March 24, 2020:

1. Retratos de mi Madre (Portraits of my Mother)
Germany, Mexico, USA 2019 11 min
Director: Tavo Ruiz
Through her narration, my mother confesses to me what she remembers from the moment she was
raped as a child. By painfully recalling this traumatic event, she reflects on the sexual abuse of children
and the scars that these events leave in a person's life.

 

2. Manen

Directors: Thomas Anglade, Maxime Announ, Lucie Dessertine, Estelle Saint-Jours
Sergio, an elderly and solitary fisherman, will pull out all the stops to take revenge on a pelican.

 

3. Marisol

Director: Zoe Salicrup Junco
When a young mother takes a risk to provide for her daughter, a stranger turns her transgression into a
nightmare.

 

4. Erdbewegungen (Deep Down Digger)
Germany 2019 8 min
Director: Marie Christin König
Hannah begrudgingly starts working for Eli, the caretaker of a cemetery. Faced with Eli’s quirkiness,
Hannah feels uneasy at first. But soon a trusting relationship starts to form. At this peaceful place,
surrounded by death, Hannah is able to find some life.

 

5. Brooklyn Park

Chronicling a single night in the life of Somali rideshare driver Abdi, Brooklyn Park is a modern day
immigrant tale that explores alienation, grief, and transcendence.

 

6. One Word
UK 2015 17 min
Director: Caleb Shaffer
Short film about a struggling young African Refugee adapting to life in the UK, who uses art to find his voice.

Brazil 2018 20 min
Director: Manoel Batista
Memory has drawers that hide parts of our past, but fear and longing keep us from accessing them. To
reconstruct the mosaic of family memories, Manoel searches through the origin of his brother's name.
The search for the name ends by unveiling passages of the military dictatorship in Brazil.

 

2. Il Grande Presidente (The Great President)
Italy 2019 6 min
Director: Giovanni Basso
After the last political elections, during a family reunion two twin brothers face the secret that binds
their destiny to the future of the Country.

 

3. Sangro (I Bleed)
Brazil 2019 7 min
Directors: Thiago Minamisawa, Bruno H. Castro
Brilliant visual language is employed to describe the fate of an individual with HIV and the special role
played by society’s fears concerning the virus.

 

4. I am Mackenzie
USA 2019 20 min
Director: Artemis Anastasiadou
A coming of age drama about adolescence and the feeling of not belonging; the feeling of being an
alien to your home, your peers, your body, your gender.

 

5. The Dishwasher
USA 2019 13 min
Directors: Nick Hartanto, Sam Roden
A chef at a fine dining restaurant in New York City asks a Mexican dishwasher to find good tortillas.

 

6. Bebaak (Defiance)
India 2018 21 min
Director: Shazia Iqbal
Fatin wants to be an architect. Realizing her dream depends on receiving a scholarship that requires
that she cover her head.
