I can imagine a beer with this person would prove fascinating.

I think eavesdropping on you having a beer with this person would be more my speed ;)

eta:  meaning I'd be happy to jump in if the benign part didn't pan out but would rather enjoy the interaction from a distance if possible

It makes me a little sad that all the nominations so far are for prime examples of idiocy. I don't know if it's a sign of the times in general or just a snapshot of Toytown right now.

Well, prime examples of idiocy or delusions of grandeur have always been my favorite, since I discovered the internet in the first place.  Neither of us was on the board back in the days when the forum had a thing called The Pit, but people being nasty and stupid and slagging each other off has always been universally entertaining. I'm not agile enough in my brain to do puns, so while a lot of other "favorite" threads have been basically pages and pages of people taking the piss with puns, they have a less than universal appeal (I imagine) and sadly, most of our punniest members have moved on.  I still like Smurf Lee better than 25 pages of pictures of a plank or jokes about a stick or whateverthefkuc.

Dear lisa13! I was behaving perfectly well on this thread until your garbled US jargon interfered! What the hell is " more my speed? "

Hopefully, admittedly a bit arrogant, but THE speed required ( drug-related )...you know, waiting for a ride in Las Vegas and waiting and waiting cos no one wants to take a hitchhiker THERE..I mean, someone could have cashed in and some young idiot gets into the car and: " hey, babe, hand it over. "

Las Vegas was tough!

oh my gosh I have no idea where that phrase came from...and really surprised you've never heard it

I think the connotation is along the lines that we all move at a different pace through life that's comfortable for us, so it's just an idiom for "that is my preference".  No drug relationship that I'm aware of but who knows?

like, who came up with "das ist nicht mein Bier"?!  It's nonsensical but yet totally clear. why? how? no idea.  sorry to flummox you and leave you hanging :)

To me, that expression makes a lot of sense actually!

"In einer anderen Wendung, nämlich das ist nicht mein Bier(„das ist nicht meine Sache, das kümmert mich nicht“), ist einer jüngeren These zufolge nicht einmal das Bier gemeint, wie wohl jeder anzunehmen geneigt ist, sondern die Birne, die in einigen Mundarten beer oder beäre genannt wird und dort auch stellvertretend für „Sache“ steht."

OK, enough and now back to topic!!

I have one.

What's brown and sticky?

A stick.

I dunno.  It's the very best stick joke I've ever heard so is it really so bad?  Among the WORST?

I think not.

It's more like a riddle. How about this one?

"The other day, my wife asked me to pass her lipstick, but I accidently passed her a glue stick. She is still not talking to me."
