Additionally I just watched a news coverage from Austria where some dude is having a heck of a problem disposing of his crashed and burned Tesla because no company in Austria is able to dispose of it properly and he is not allowed to have it transported to somewhere else without first getting the batteries secured and disconnected by a specialist.

You just became a FUD victim. A friend just came with the same story today during lunch. Not only EVs are 10x less prone of fires, the problem lies with Austria, which has no such capabilities. It's the same as blaming a car manufacturer because a certain country does not have towing trucks.

With VW starting to sell half a million EVs per year starting next summer, do you think this is an everlasting issue?

Tesla is not helping.

Tesla was already in the process of having a local company to handle this type of issues but the company was still getting the proper licenses. "Tesla not helping" is just wrong information.

They already pay $2B per year and Trump is asking $8B... really unreasonable, especially considering that the infrastructures were paid by Japan.

In South Korea he is asking for $5B.

How much does the US pay?

The US forces are not mercenaries. They are there for strategic reasons.

Since the Cold War ended 30 years ago, the strategy has shifted and while the world may appreciate the US keeping world order while constantly complaining about the US keeping world order, 😉  it no longer serves US strategic interests.

I don't expect you read the link i posted, but the guy argues that the US has been moving toward autarky.  Macron gets it and is attempting to scramble a security system together.

That said, the US might not maintain a system, but i would doubt they allow others to grab a superior strategic position.

White House review turns up emails showing extensive effort to justify Trump’s decision to block Ukraine military aid after the fact.

Quote

A confidential White House review of President Trump’s decision to place a hold on military aid to Ukraine has turned up hundreds of documents that reveal extensive efforts to generate an after-the-fact justification for the decision and a debate over whether the delay was legal, according to three people familiar with the records.

The research by the White House Counsel’s Office, which was triggered by a congressional impeachment inquiry announced in September, includes early August email exchanges between acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney and White House budget officials seeking to provide an explanation for withholding the funds after the president had already ordered a hold in mid-July on the nearly $400 million in security assistance, according to the three people familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal White House deliberations.

One person briefed on the records examination said White House lawyers are expressing concern that the review has turned up some unflattering exchanges and facts that could at a minimum embarrass the president. It’s unclear whether the Mulvaney discussions or other records pose any legal problems for Trump in the impeachment inquiry, but some fear they could pose political problems if revealed publicly.

So, there's that "We had always planned this and the POTUS had discussed it at length in advance because of corruption" lie completely discredited.

And the news for the GOP does not get better. Giuliani associate wants to testify that Nunes aides hid Ukraine meetings on Biden dirt from Schiff. Hey, and before you get excited and want to claim that it's he said-he said, Parnas is bringing receipts.

Quote

The lawyer for an indicted business associate of Rudy Giuliani said his client is prepared to testify under oath that aides to Rep. Devin Nunes, the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, scrapped a trip to Ukraine this year when they realized it would mean notifying Democratic Chairman Rep. Adam Schiff.

Lev Parnas would tell Congress that the purpose of the planned trip was to interview two Ukrainian prosecutors who claim to have evidence that could help President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign, Parnas’ attorney, Joseph Bondy, told CNBC. Nunes is one of Trump’s most outspoken defenders in Congress. Giuliani is one of the president’s personal lawyers.

But when Nunes’ staff realized that going to Ukraine themselves would mean alerting Schiff to their plans, they instead asked Parnas to set up the meetings for them over phone and Skype, which he did, according to Bondy.

Quote

Asked point blank during an interview Sunday whether he met with Shokin in Vienna, Nunes refused to answer, telling Fox News that Parnas was “a criminal,” and that he would not “debate this out with the public media when 90% of the media are totally corrupt.”

The latest allegations about the planned trip to Ukraine this spring, however, suggest that Nunes’ purported efforts to dig up dirt on Biden and Democrats did not end with the Vienna trip.

They also potentially implicate Nunes and his committee staff in the same events the committee is currently investigating. Specifically, the monthslong effort by Trump, Giuliani and others to get Ukrainian officials to help them dig up dirt on Biden, and to validate far-right conspiracies about Ukraine and the 2016 election.

$3B, from what I could understand. That´s 0.4% of US military budget. It is way less than what Japan buys every year from American defense companies. I could not find a concrete number, but adding partials got me around $10B. So the US still gets the better deal.

Now going up to $8B is just pure stupidity. It is an self invitation out.

Not only bringing receipts - the House Intelligence Committee already has video and audio recordings from him.

Looks like colludy Rudy is totally screwedy. And he's not going under that bus quietly. He still insists he was working under the direct orders of Pompeo and Trump.

I should invest in popcorn futures.

Cleaning coffee off of my monitor after reading this -

Trump has been described as the “chosen one” by his secretary of energy, Rick Perry.

In the preview of an interview shown on Fox News on Sunday night, the adviser, who has drawn scrutiny for his role in the Ukraine scandal, also compared the US president to a number of biblical kings.

“God’s used imperfect people all through history,” Mr Perry told the broadcaster. “King David wasn’t perfect, Saul wasn’t perfect, Solomon wasn’t perfect.”

He revealed that he gave Mr Trump “a little one-pager on those Old Testament kings about a month ago”.

“I shared it with him and said, ‘Mr President, I know there are people that say you said you were the chosen one and I said, ‘You were,’” Mr Perry said.

“I said, ‘If you’re a believing Christian, you understand God’s plan for the people who rule and judge over us on this planet in our government.’”

After the interview was teased on Fox & Friends, Fox News journalist Ed Henry claimed that Mr Perry said the president was “sent by God to do great things”...
