Posted 15 January A new Pew Research Center poll released Friday found just 29 percent of Americans approve of the job Trump is doing in office Quote President Trump’s approval rating has cratered after he incited a deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, led by a dramatic drop in support among voters of his own party. A new Pew Research Center poll released Friday found just 29 percent of Americans approve of the job Trump is doing in office, by far the lowest rating he has received during his presidency. More than two in three Americans, 68 percent, disapprove of his handling of the job. A majority of voters, 56 percent, say they very strongly disapprove of his job performance. The rating makes Trump one of the least popular presidents of all time, a nadir comparable to the percentage of Americans who approved of Richard Nixon’s job performance when he resigned office in disgrace. Just 26 percent of Americans said they approved of Nixon’s job performance when he left office in 1974. https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/534413-trump-approval-rating-falls-to-new-low-after-capitol-assault

Posted 15 January I just heard on CNN that Trump wants a military sendoff when he leaves next week. Given the number of National Guard that will be in the Capital to provide protection for the inauguration, Trump will no doubt claim that he had the largest military sendoff than any other president.
Posted 16 January I think Trump should prepare for disappointment. No parade, no elephants, and no calliope. But he'll still leave plenty of shit for the clean-up men to get rid of.

It was real: Quote A Scottish newspaper's TV listing of President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration has caught people's attention both in the UK and the US. The Sunday Herald TV critic Damien Love reimagined the ceremony as a return of the classic science fiction series The Twilight Zone. President Trump: The Inauguration 4pm, BBC One/ STV "After a long absence, The Twilight Zone returns with one of the most ambitious, expensive and controversial productions in broadcast history. Sci-fi writers have dabbled often with alternative history stories - among the most common is the "What If The Nazis Had Won The Second World War" setting - but this huge interactive virtual reality project, which will unfold on TV, in the press, and on Twitter over the next four years, sets out to build an ongoing alternative present. The story begins in a nightmarish version of 2017 in which huge sections of the US electorate have somehow been duped into voting to make Donald Trump president. It sounds far-fetched, and it is, but as it goes on it becomes more and more chillingly plausible. Today's feature-length opener concentrates on the gaudy inauguration of President Trump, and the stirrings of protest and despair surrounding the ceremony, while pundits speculate gravely on what lies ahead. It's a flawed piece, but a disturbing glimpse of the horrors we could stumble into, if we're not careful." https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-38635518

Why? Roubini: Because the change of government is coming anyway, and because the results of the Senate by-elections in Georgia came in on the same day (giving the Democrats control of the Senate). That makes it easier for Biden to pump more money into stimulus programs. He will also raise taxes, though that will be harder to get through the Senate.
