Fox News reports Monty Python sketch as in-fighting in Seattle's Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone

Quote

If Fox News' latest report is to be believed, Seattle's peaceful Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone is roiling with infighting among the activists who have made it a police-free zone.

Of course, as with so many things Fox News, it is not to be believed. In what appears to be a clip from Friday night's broadcast, a reporter with the channel shows a screenshot of a now-deleted Reddit post that purportedly demonstrates the absurdist level of disagreement in the ranks of those protesting police violence in Seattle. There's just one problem: It's actually a joke, lifted almost verbatim from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

There's more...

The gap between Trump's world and reality is widening -

Quote

Given how busy most Americans are these days – home-schooling their kids, dealing with unemployment, waiting on line at food banks, protesting systemic racism, worrying about our economy and our educational system – few of us have the time, the energy or inclination to wonder what it’s like to be Donald Trump, to imagine how his mind works, what he really thinks and believes. But over the past few weeks, the increasingly strange, intentionally provocative, inappropriate and frankly delusional tweets and pronouncements issuing from the Oval Office have once again caused us to reflect on the president’s inner life. We’ve grown accustomed to his shortcomings, the regular failures of decency, common sense, and good taste. Yet the gap between what the president is saying – and the reality we observe around us – appears to be widening.

Does Trump truly believe that Martin Gugino, the 75-year-old protester shoved to the ground by Buffalo police officers, was an Antifa insurrectionist plotting to block the communications equipment of the officers who shoved him and left him bleeding from the ear? Does the courtly, somewhat hesitant Gugino really look to anyone like a dangerous thug? How could someone have watched that video and floated the idea that the attack on Gugino, still hospitalized with a brain injury, “could be a set-up?”

Is it possible that a president who has spent four years lying to the American people now assumes that everyone is lying? Or can he simply no longer distinguish between fact and fiction, between conspiracy theories spread by fringe “news” outlets such as the One America News Network and observable reality? What sane human being could imagine that America wanted to hear that George Floyd was smiling down from heaven at the day’s modestly improved job reports?....

I hope he loses the next election just to see how bad his tantrum would be.

(Hopefully the world would survive it)..

Trump's apparently planning an indoor mass rally in Oklahoma on Saturday that's being called a potential coronavirus "super-spreader event". Is there no limit to his idiocy?

Judge denies emergency request to stop Trump's Tulsa campaign rally due to coronavirus fears

He keeps reminding me of that scene from the Dead Zone with Johnny Smith (Christopher Walken) and Roger Stuart (Anthony Zerbe) watching news footage of upcoming politician Greg Stillson (Martin Sheen), who will later feature in one of Johnny's visions as becoming president and starting a nuclear war.

Roger: "You voting for him?"

Johnny: "I'm not even registered."

Roger: "Not registered?"

Johnny: "No."

Roger: "Get registered, pal, and vote against this turkey. He's dangerous."

There are also a couple of tell-all books coming out, one by John Bolton, the other by Trump's psychologist niece Mary Trump.

Donald Trump called Nikki Haley a 'c***' John Bolton's book reveals

What we learned from John Bolton's eye-popping tale of working with Trump

"Trump asked Chinese President Xi Jinping for help in getting reelected… Trump had no problem with China's concentration camps… Pompeo, famously loyal to the President, may have trash-talked him… The White House decision-making process was like a 'food fight'… Trump didn't like sanctions on Russia… Trump's revealing questions: Is Finland a part of Russia?… Trump told people that Venezuela is 'really part of the US' and wanted to invade… Trump wanted Attorney General Bill Barr to make CNN reporters 'serve time in jail'"

The psychologist in the Trump family speaks

"In late July Dr. Trump will publish a book, ominously titled, "Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World's Most Dangerous Man.""

At least half of the employees at BOK Center (site of Trump's scheduled rally on Saturday) have decided not to come to work because of COVID-19 fears, though masks,  sanitizers, and tests will be available to them and to rally participants.
More about BOK Center and the rally.
