Just had a quick look on the web and the cheapest Tesla is about 15k more expensive than the cheapest Kona.
Posted 21 May 2020 I believe he was referring to a Porsche or Ferrari or similar. Which women are also allowed to own.

Well, the cheapest Ferrari is more expensive than the cheapest Mercedes... why are we comparing apples with oranges? It's a bit hard to compare them in terms of range because the cheapest Kona has a very small battery and only 290km range. The cheapest Tesla has 409km. The high end Kona has 480km and the high end Tesla has 560km. All WLTP. But Tesla hasn't bothered retesting the Model 3 range after the November changes, which bring around 15km more range. That puts the cheapest Tesla on a similar range of the most expensive Kona. The most expensive Kona is about the same price as the cheapest Tesla. So I fail to see how it is "half the price". Even the cheapest Kona is only about 25% cheaper than the Model 3. Far from "half the price". And for a bit more you get a car on a completely different level.

Yes, personal experience, I see them passing my neighborhood every day, with their modified exhaust pipes.

I`m not commenting on whether we should be comparing them,Im commenting on you stating it`s about the same price when it is nowhere near "about the same price".

Posted 27 May 2020 Tesla cutting prices in NA. Don't know if this is good news or bad for Tesla. It would be good news if it is due to the reduction in production costs. The article seems to indicate it is due to decreased demand, which would be not so good for Tesla. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-tesla-prices/tesla-to-cut-car-prices-in-north-america-china-idUSKBN2330DP
Posted 27 May 2020 That would be weird because lead time in Europe right now is 3 to 4 months. And European prices are higher than 1 year ago... so the question is why can´t they ship them to Europe? Could also be related with the Model Y. This new model will definitely eat up sales from Model 3 and X and potentially from Model S. So until they ramp up Model Y, they probably have lots of demand for it, but decreased demand for the others. Saw a comment on Reddit that it could also be a response to aggressive prices from other manufacturers that accumulated stock during the lockdown.
Posted 27 May 2020 Another topic - A friend of ours who lives way outside of Munich had the Tesla solar system installed on his roof with batteries so that they can be totally independent. He paid a fortune for it. He is having a lot of problems with it and they keep sending out people to check it. He's a pretty technical type guy himself - hence the installation. Hopefully, they get some satisfaction soon.
Posted 27 May 2020 @fraufruit, do u know if it V2 or V3? At some point they stopped installing V2 because there were indeed many problems with it. V3 came end of last year, so my guess is he has a V2.
Posted 27 May 2020 Dunno but Himself just told me it is an installation problem.
Posted 27 May 2020 There were discussions since 2018 regarding the solar business. It was not going well because the roof was too expensive, too hard to install and prone to failures. Then their solar business almost went bankrupt. Since then they redesigned it and seems that the V3 is a big step forward, but AFAIK, it is not even available in Europe, so I guess your friend got the V2.
