It's a funky place. We parked on the Spanish side. Waited for a plane to land and then walked across the runway into Gibraltar. Cobbled streets and red letter boxes in the Spanish sun. With a few monkeys for good measure.

Now I wanna go and check it out.

Crete averages around 21C in November in the day and around 13 at night. Hardliners can still swim! ( ie not me!)

John, get yourself a light neoprene surf suit or 2 millimeter diving suit (used is fine after a good wash) for swimming in colder water.

You float easily and swimming is great fun!

definitely Morocco, incredible food and warm weather. You can fly in to Marrakesh easy. Would recommend you get a car or if you don't feel comfortable driving a guide. definitely visit the city Fes.

Is that snow up in  “ them hills? “

😫

We spent part of our honeymoon there 41 years ago. In August! No snow then!

So did we. And I was offered 10 camels for my wife. Not sure it was meant as a joke.

In the end we decided not to go anywhere. It just seemed a bit self-indulgent.

But thanks for all the suggestions and sorry for not coming back to the thread. Maybe others can use the suggestions!

We are now all going to India in December for three weeks.

Staycations are a wonderful way to relax as well, can even sometimes discover new and interesting things in your region too.
