Posted 2 Jul 2019 Dear all, On Saturday July 13th there'll be various million-(wo)man marches around the world in support of the popular uprising in Sudan. We'd love to try to do something similar, on a much smaller scale, in Frankfurt. Does anyone know if we'd need to apply for a permit for that - and if so, where to go to? Thank you for any input!
Posted 3 Jul 2019 The problem with organizing a march is that you have to provide your own security and you're liable if things get out of hand. This link has information for Frankfurt in German.
Posted 3 Jul 2019 Thank you for the link El Jeffo, very helpful. Can you explain a bit more what you mean by own security? Are we talking about legal / financial liability?
Posted 3 Jul 2019 Yes. They specifically mention "Zahl der Ordner" in the list of information you're required to submit for a permit. This refers to stewards/security, not binders. And like I mentioned, in the unlikely case that the march participants get out of hand and start vandalizing things, the organizers can be held liable for damages.

In this document, write "Demonstrationszug" in the field "Art der Veranstaltung" and "Wir demonstrieren gegen die Unterdrückung im Sudan" in the field "Thema der Veranstaltung", and the taxpayer's your uncle.
