History and archaeology tours during the Stadtgrundungsfest, June 15th - 16th

Dark History Tours will be running a couple of special tours this coming weekend to coincide with Minga's 861st birthday:

 

Munich’s hidden history: Walking tour of Munich with archaeologist Taff Simon:

 

The city may date to 1158, but people have been living here for millennia.

 

Join us as we visit key sites and gain fascinating insights into life in the past – from the Bronze Age up to more modern times.

 

Along the way, get to handle ancient artefacts like pottery and coins… and maybe a  sword or two….

 

When?

 

15th – 16th June @ 1pm

 

Where? 

 

Tours meet near the Fish Fountain, in Marienplatz . Look for your guide in period costume. We will also have a sign.

 

Tour will end in the Old Botanical Garden, just by the Park Cafe.

 

Duration? 

 

Give yourself about 3 hours - but the time flies by. 

 

How much?

 

Regular:  €18, €17 concessions (Students, seniors 65+, serving or ex-military and/or first responders)

Very young kids*: you decide

 

 

Munich Macabre:

 

Our grisly evening walking tour has proved to be very popular so far in 2019 and it is certainly one that we love to give (Any excuse to get dressed up in period costume!)

 

Join us, to learn about some truly shocking medieval history, such as:

 

• Infamous witch trials
• The Black Death and other nasties
• The murders that shocked Medieval Bavaria
• Hygiene and medical care in the Middle Ages
• Military history: the 30 Years’ War
• Why was beer so important? Get to sample some authentic Medieval styles
• Ancient burial rites
• And much more besides….

 

When?

 

14th – 16th June @ 5.15pm, just after the Glockenspiel

 

Where? 

 

Tour starts and finishes near the Fish Fountain, in Marienplatz . Look for your guide in period costume. We will also have a sign. 

 

Duration? 

 

Give yourself about 3 hours - but the time flies by. If it is a warm evening we might stop for a quick pint along the way

 

How much?

 

Regular:  €18, €17 concessions (Students, seniors 65+, serving or ex-military and/or first responders)

Very young kids*: you decide

 

Reservations not required but if you fancy joining us, a quick note on here really helps (Especially so with Munich Macabre so we know how much beer to bring)

 

If bringing the kids let us know: they will get a cool souvenir at the end of the tour :-)
