Dog-sitting/pensions in the Freiburg area

Hi all,

i have searched the forum but have found little recommendations for the Freiburg area.

I have a business trip planned coming up and have had NO LUCK in finding hundepension or dog sitting at all... 

Never thought it would be so hard as everyone has dogs around here... does ANYONE know of someone or somewhere? I pay per day. Really nice, cute dog. I live in Freiburg, Herdern. 

Or maybe somewhere I can look for adverts on this subject? I’ve been living here for over two months only, so getting used to finding services...

I don't have any personal experience, but gudog.de lists a few people in Freiburg.

There should be a dog owners facebook group in your area. You might have some luck finding someone there.

Have a look on eBay Kleinanzeigen. There are usually ads for dog sitting, wanted and offered.  You can also place your own wanted ad free. 

 

I agree with the other suggestions to ask at local vets and Tierheim.

Funny, I'm trying to reserve over one month in advance, never thought it would be this hard...

But I'll figure it out somehow.

I cannot give you any address, but I can tell you a few things you can do right now. Make sure all the dog's vaccinations are current, including Zwingerhusten - sorry, I have no idea what this in English and Leo also didn't know . This will probably be asked by the Hundepension.It would be too bad if  you found a place and then couldn't take it because of missing vaccinations.

Depending on the size of your dog, expect to pay between 20 and 30 Euro per day.

You say you need it in a month, that is  the time of the Pentecost holidays in southern Germany, a time which many families use to go away, so that's actually high season for the Hundepensionen.

I second asking your vet for a recommendation. Don't leave your dog with just anybody. Both dog and carer need to like each other.Also check your and your  dog's liability insurance, if other carers are covered.

If you don't find anything and would go up north to Mannheim, I can recommend an excellent Hundepension here.

When we lived in Mannheim, we used Hundehotel Neckartal. I recommend her without reservation.

Ours here is Hundepension Evi Engelfried in Viernheim. She is great! 

When the US base was in Mannheim, she also had many American customers as she speaks very good English.

I am a dog sitter with GuDogs. I have just finished my first booking and received a 5 star review. in 2 days i start the next booking. I have not been paid by GuDogs nor will they reply to my emails.

has anyone else had this problem?
