2-month rentals - where to check?

10 posts in this topic

Servus,

Do you nice people have any tips on where to look for a 2-month apartment rental? So I've been living in Munich for 6 months and my current rental contract is expiring but I need to stay for 2 more months because of my job. Unfortunately it seems 2-months is this terrible middle-ground where it is too short for the likes of MrLodge (they only offer apartments for 6 months minimum) and too long for Airbnb (there are literally no apartments for the two months I'm looking for). The only places that I could find were SMARTments but their prices seem to be extremely high. Any tips and leads would be appreciated.

Vielen Dank

Is it just you? Someone on TT was offering a short term room to rent today. I'll let you find it if that would be acceptable.

I have a hard time believing there is 'literally' nothing available on air bnb

Since I can only assume your lease didn't end yesterday, I just did a search for May + June, June + July and July + August and each offered at least 200 results.

Or try ordinary holiday-let booking sites like fewo-direkt or booking.com. Some owners will let for a month or two & might even offer long-stay discounts. I found a little apartment on fewo-direkt for €41 a night (May/June).

You're right. I need to make a correction - there is literally nothing available on airbnb for May+June that is not shared (I'm afraid to leave all my items in a shared place), less than 50E a night (the price of a hotel), and can reach my office in a reasonable time (<1hr) by public transport as I don't have a car.

Yes, I'm looking on booking.com, I've got one lead for a apart-hotel that is 1500 a month, which is okay, currently I'm looking if I can find something better.

Could you please link me to that apartment on fewo-direkt, I couldn't find anything there?

Thank you everyone for the replies, they are much appreciated!

I just managed to find literally 12 places in your price range, during your time period, not shared, and in munich proper (ie ubahn accessible).

I have no idea where you work so maybe this is your problem.

The €41 place has gone now. I found this instead:  https://www.fewo-direkt.de/ferienwohnung-ferienhaus/p2430454?adultsCount=1&arrival=2019-05-04&departure=2019-06-29&petIncluded=false

Or this:  https://www.fewo-direkt.de/ferienwohnung-ferienhaus/p2671880?adultsCount=1&arrival=2019-05-04&departure=2019-06-29&petIncluded=false

As I mentioned, if the owner agrees to a long let you might be able to negotiate the price - because they will be spared the time and expense of all the changeovers they'd otherwise have to do in that period.

If you're willing to live these 2 month outside Munich, along the S-bahn lines, you could find for sure something cheaper than 1500 euro/month.

I know some of the appartments /boarding houses north of Munich, along S1, but i suppose that you may find something similar along other S-bahn lines.

- Neufahrn (S1): small spartments/studios from 750 euro/month: http://muc-lodge.de/preise.html

- Eching (S1): http://www.boardinghaus-eching.de/apartments/

- Freising /Near Airport https://www.apart-arthotel.de/en/; https://boardinghaus-freising.de/haus-city/komfort-einzelzimmer/

Get 2 different apartments from Airbnb, each for 1 month. The easiest and best option, you usually get discount when renting the whole month. But I'd course you have to book in advance.
