Brexit Letter from LK Rosenheim or Local LRA

Not there so no.  You mean you have? Can you give a flavour of what does it say ?   Perhaps other people in different places are hearing similar?  Maybe you want to join the Brexit threads where there are reported examples from other locations, too :).

IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT BREXIT!

The United Kingdom is expected to leave the European Union on 29 March 2019.

It is still unclear whether there will be a  withdrawal in an exit agreement or an unregulated Brexit (so-called "no-deal" scenario) . For both possible case variants, the Federal Government is preparing legal transitional provisions. At present, we have no further information on the concrete status of the legislative procedure.

Nevertheless, we would like to inform you today about possible effects in the area of residence and naturalization law.

If the withdrawal agreement is still concluded , after the departure on 29 March 2019, a transitional phase of almost two years would apply until 31 December 2020. During this period, Britain will continue to be treated as an EU Member State. The EU free movement rules continue to apply during this period.

An unregulated Brexit ("no-deal scenario") , which means leaving the country without a withdrawal agreement, means that British nationals and their family members are not eligible for further vested benefits as of 30 March 2019 and generally require a residence permit for further residence in Germany.

The Federal Republic of Germany intends to issue a decree allowing British nationals and their family members to live and work in Germany without a residence permit for a transitional period of three months . For further stay, British nationals must apply for a residence permit by the end of this transitional period at the latest. Please note that the application is only possible after the United Kingdom has left the European Union.

If you intend to file an application for the acquisition of German citizenship with the additional retention of your British citizenship, we recommend that you apply for naturalization before 29.03.2019 in case of an unregulated leaving .

The application is not subject to any formal requirements and may possibly also be submitted verbally during a personal interview here in the company. In the case of an oral application, the required documents must be submitted.

Before submitting a naturalization application, we ask you to contact your local naturalization officer for advice.

Further information as well as information on the application process can also be found on the internet sites of the Federal Government, the Federal Ministry of the Interior, for Building and Home Affairs and the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior, for Sport and Integration:

I received one from my local LRA today too. although mine was German. So I set fire to it and danced, singing "We won the war!" ;)

They also included a leaflet with three "What if When?" scenarios:

Edit: LRA = Landratsamt (Local District Office)
