Where to recycle lithium Ion batteries?

4 posts in this topic

I remember the battery collection boxes at the supermarkets have a warning label, something about not taking certain types of batteries. Does anyone remember whether those boxes accept lithium ion batteries, for example rechargeable ones or mobile phone batteries?  I do remember the notice said something about isolating the contacts, so I tape the ends. I can't check right at this moment because the supermarkets keep on closing down in my neighborhood.

Supermarkets don't generally sell those type of batteries anyway, which may result in them having extra costs for sorting and transferring them to a suitable recycling collection company.

The most logical places to take them to would be any of the stores which do sell them (such as Saturn, MediaMarkt, Conrad, REAL, etc.) all of which are obligated to accept them for recycling.
