Is it legal to download youtube videos in Germany?

10 posts in this topic

I will live in a place where there is no internet connection, no wifi for sometime.

So I would like to download youtube movies to watch there. Is this legal?

If so, how big USB would be enough to save 5 average movies?

Or what could be the most economic way of using internet for a month. Cell data is very expensive, I think.

Maybe it's time to consider a technology detox? Or try something crazy like audiobooks, podcasts are even, dare I suggest... plain old fashioned paper books?

Assuming you save it in the same video format it is streamed in, you'd need 130MB ~ 22GB per hour depending on quality. About 1 ~ 2.5GB per hour for 1080p.

No idea about the legality in the Youtube case - probably a grey area. You can download videos legally with both amazon prime and netflix though.

Why not just get a Vodafone Gigacube for a month?

They offer a months trial.... if you dont like it... take it back no hassle!

But do not forget to take it back within the specified period.

Since it is so much trouble to call, could you please tell me the price? Do I need to use cell phone and connect cell to pc to use the internet?

Just how lazy can one get?

You dont deserve any help at all..

Hi, it is not lazy. Most of customer service do not speak English, and I cannot speak German. They claim they speak a bit English, but when I talk with them, I found their vocabulary is less than 100, impossible to communicate other than how are you doing.

Then use your techno-detox time to learn some German. After all you're living here now.

*Waiting for the "I signed a contract I didn't understand and think I got screwed" thread.

Damn, Spider beat me to it.

Only activation of gigacube costs 51 euro. For long term, it is worthy, but for short term, it is too expensive.
