In the right direction but still too heavy.

More like these...:

I really like the 50ties retro electro Isetta and recently had a look at the Opel... thing. It´s bigger on the inside than on the outside.

Opel Rocks (bottom) has a top speed of 45km/h and a range of 75km.  Renault Twizy (top) comes in two versions, one has a top speed of 80km/h and a range of 100km, the other has a top speed of 45km/h and a range of 120km.  You are allowed to drive the faster Twizy on the autobahn but I don't know if I would.  It's kind of small.  I'd like something a little faster, a little bigger, with a litle more range.

I thought the idea was to buy a small car for your daily needs and rent a bigger one when you need it.

Yes, if your needs are just going shopping around town, it's fine.  If you have 2 or 3 kids you have to drive to school, it's too small.  Then again, the kids can drive themselves at 15.

Yes totally agree, things depend on your situation.

I generally want a small car, just easier to park etc, but this kinda thing is just too small, and a hopeless range/speed  for me.

I never ever wanted an SUV type thing, its just too big and fat, although I do take FF comment seriously, safety is important in a crash situation, there is no way I could get an SUV in my tiefgarage

Thats one of the problems I have with EV's, there is just too little choice at the moment for different peoples life styles,  some people say just buy a Model 3, but I do not want such a big car

Not any more, prices are going up now, for EV batteries

You can also see prices are not dropping any more they are more or less stable

Can I see? From that chart? Sorry, I can't.

I actually bothered to make a 20% drop chart. This is how it looks like. As you see below, I can't infer a thing from the graph above.

20percent.png.eb20c800b7ede9024dab7d5eeb

In any case, 2021/2022 had supply chain issues. Again, you are having a static view. Prices will continue to drop.

Musk was predicting the $100 per kWh,  back in 2016, he makes a lot of bad jokes

First, there is more to it. Are you talking cell or pack level? Quite different.

Tesla's cell cost in 2016 was $230. In 2021 it was about $130. Bad jokes? Dropped almost to half!

EV are only a bit cheaper because of the subsidies, when they go, you are left with an expensive low range car, that helps the environment a bit

Talking with you about technicalities is like talking with a brick wall sometimes.

Of course it is, same as BMW, first they go for Chinese internal market, then they start making EVs there and exporting to Europe. Just wait.

If you think taxi's drive around at least 10 hours a day, nearly 300+ days a year, I am amazed this took so long.

As a taxi driver, why would you not being driving a large capacity EV? Surely the fuel cost alone has to make that worthwhile.

There was actually a study on just this topic a while back. It came to the conclusion that having a fleet of E-taxis would work if the taxi ranks would have some form of on the fly loading. Taxis use the machine gun bullet system where the taxi first in line takes the customer, then the next one and the next one after that, the magazine being filled by returning taxis. That as an idea is adorable as it would mean some sort of load facility that moves along with the taxi and it would have to charge the taxi at best in half an hour, at worst in five minutes, times as many taxi ranks in the city. Not to mention the taxis that go further afield.

Taxi companies took one look at the cost and Aufwand and said: "No thanks!"

While would they have to follow the anachronistic physical queue?  The app could control a virtual queue.

Because that is just how taxis work. Railway stations, airports, large intersections, hotels and shopping malls, all have their taxi rank. And if you switch to an app-based model you run into the same problem, where to charge?

Or as this cartoon states...:

That's how they work now.  You can't implement change without implementing change.   If the queue is short, like in the corners, the virtual queue decides who goes first.  For giant places like airports, not all taxis have to queue at the same time.   You can put chargers somewhere and they park there first and get a place in the virtual queue.  When the time comes they move from the to the physical queue that does not need to be 2 kilometers long.   Actually those giant queues are a massive waste, switch the car on, move 5 meters, switch the car off.

Taxi queues are bound to disappear. In many places Uber already destroyed the "medallion" scheme.

It's probably the only good thing coming out of Uber.

Yes, that is what Über says, Not sure that they have a license for all the other cities, seems that they are currently at odds with the Regeln. And it sucks to be in Augsburg, for instance.

It does not matter, you are missing the point.   @MikeMelga was pointing out the CONCEPT and how car queues are becoming irrelevant in many cases, not if Uber is allowed or not in your village.

P.S., The Uber situation in Germany is even "worse".  In many German cities plain Uber is not allowed, they only allow UberX, which is the "serious" version of Uber, with proper trained drivers and proper insurances.   It might happen as well that you order an Uber and a normal taxi shows up.   I myself do not like much the gig-economy, so I agree with such decisions.
