Diesel cars banned in Frankfurt

ZH poses as a financial blog but it is a pro-Russia alt-right propaganda machine, ran by a guy charged of inside trading and barred from being a trader.   The place is of course loved by right extremists.

Pro-Russia, alt-right is hysterical.    ZH is hardly extreme.    In addition, ZH readers were not shocked by the events of 2007-08.

The operator is a Bulgarian banned from trading but the site is visited by lots of people of varying political persuasions and mostly traders.

The quality of the article about Tesla is no worse than its source on Bloomberg.

Look at alt-right alt-bicus trying to support ZH as a credible source. Isn't he just adorable?

Sorry, she. I forgot she identifies as an Estonian female now. Which is her right as a man, of course. How silly of me.

(Like raiiiiiiiiiin on your wedding day, right, Loretta?)

Everything is going to be okay Jeff.      Relax, take a few deep breaths and remember that Bloomberg is not part of a vast ZH driven right-wing conspiracy.    All these right-wing boogeymen you see are in your head.

Have a nice day.

If the problems with Tesla, i.e, production issues, SEC issues, Musk issues, performance issues and delivery issues were not well known when you ordered yours, I am sorry to hear that.

I´m not going to read the article because I don´t want to give them my click. But "Tesla is going down in flames" is a theory being sold for 11 year. Yet, here they stand. Yet, they still have a 20-25% better battery range than comparable batteries from competition. Yet, their cars are much faster and with better features than the competition. Yet, their batteries charge much faster than the competition. Yet, they are 5-7 years ahead of the competition.

They have close to $5B in the bank, they will receive $2B from FIAT in the upcoming months. So there is no immediate bankrupcy issue, what people are doing is taking a phrase from an email from Musk out of context.

And if they were on the brink of bankrupcy, they could either be bought by Apple or similar company. Or just license their powertrain and batteries to an American or European car manufacturer, for the lower segment.

Well if all you can afford is some smelly, noisy , polluting  old diesel then maybe you should consider some other option for the future, like a pushbike, or maybe even an e-bike.

You know the meaning of the word wanker right ?

I don`t drive a diesel (only because it wouldn`t pay me too) just a little old Fiesta.

It`s funny how people like you who want to achieve the dream of electric cars seem perfectly fine with the people making those cars working in factories where they`ll breath in more shit in a week than you`ll breath in a year walking in the city.

It`s also funny that you hold up a person as a hero who treats his workers like shit but hey that doesn`t affect you so nm.

As long as your electric car is cheap then you`re happy with everything because you have boosted your own little ego by driving one and contributed to the electric revolution.

Sorry if you are on the low percentile, but the average price for a new car sold in Germany is 32k€

What has that to do with the price of fish ?

Average price is not a good way to reckon same way as average wage is also bollocks.

The problem is many millions of people can afford say up to 10k for a car and they aint getting a used electric one for that

Remember that a lot of people see cars as a bourgeois luxury and that whilst I need one to take little Tarquin to school, most of those polluting brutes really should consider the environment and walk.  After all there is an obesity epidemic, walking certainly wouldnt hurt.

So the fact cars are too expensive for the peasants is actually a good thing as far as the champagne socialists are concerned.  And if they get to ponce about in a prius or even better a souped up sports variant milk float they can look down on the rest of us even more effectively.

I'm beginning to see a correlation between those who hate EV's and those who can't afford one. Or is it just me?

Don´t worry, within 5 years EV cars will be as cheap as ICE on the low segment.

Or robotaxis show up first, then car ownership will stop making sense.

Anyone who refers to "people like you", when they don't know them, would certainly "know the meaning of the word wanker right"!

I can't afford any kind of car and certainly not a Tesla and I have only ever owned one car in my life (an old Opel Kadette, long departed and not missed). I don't have a problem with that, give me a motorcycle any day. What I do have problem with is those smelly dirty polluting diesel vehicles, particularly SUVs that obstruct the over the top view of motorcyclists, and stink up our cities. Ban diesels, support EVs and 2 wheel transport for a better air quality!

As for a hero the only one I have ever had was Mike Hailwood!

I dont think so, to be honest if they really wanted one Im pretty sure most people could scrape up the cash.  Its a bit like an iphone or google glass (remember that?), people who have them think its a status symbol, everyone else... reminds me of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwsBV2EgJ-E

ZH is a bit slanted... but it's a bit hysterical to call it alt-right. it's got juicy stories that the normal media won't show (because Everything is Awesome!). So yes, it is Pessimism Porn. But everything is biased these days (CNN/FoxNews/MSNBC/NYTimes/WaPo/etc)...  I mean how many transgender articles a day do you think are enough? (i'm completely pro LGBT btw) ... don't tell me those guys haven't gone off the deep end...  WSJ seems to be a little more fair.. but it's behind a paywall.

Still it cites a Bloomberg article... so you think Tesla is doing well? Is it just a bump in the road? :D

I don't think anyone here is actually against EVs. What I object to is the blind belief that EVs don't come with any pollution. There is a sh!tload of environmental damage that is made when mining the materials for the batteries (and throwing them away). And a lot of plastic is being used to make the cars lighter to get those longer ranges (which btw - comes from petrol!). The energy for EVs is still being produced using coal. But progress will be made hopefully... but we cannot defy physics.

To make it short: Q1 was much worst than expected, but media overreacted. Q2 will achieve close to break even.

Demand is still unknown, probably weak in US right now, going also down in China, but still strong in Europe.

Production problems are almost gone, but with still much to improve on efficiency.

I could go on for hours, but just remember 2 things: Tesla has one of the industries highest margin and it is still outselling all direct competitors in US and in some european markets.

I would keep an eye on Tesla bonds to gauge the risk.    Recent developments are not positive if the company will need to raise money for production facilities.

So... not going down in flames any longer? Why don't you just shut up with the FUD?

Really, you sound exactly the same as the usual Tesla haters:

- the car is crap

- the car is not crap, but they can't produce it

- they can produce it but the quality control is crap

- the quality control is now good, but Audi, BMW, Merc, Jag are catching up

- seems that Audi, BMW, Jag and Merc have nothing good, because there is no demand for EVs

- there is demand, but they can't deliver it

- (last week) they can deliver it, but it really doesn't matter, as what matters is if Tesla abandons or not the luxury segment

Please, do a test drive and understand how advanced this car is compared with everything else!

They are at least 5 years ahead of any competitor. The question is not if they go up in flames, the question is how many old time auto manufacturers will.

Why would you throw away the batteries?  Why not recycle them?  That makes no sense.

There is a shitload of environmental damage done by ANY extractive mining. Particularly when not done correctly. Why pick on electric vehicles and not cell phones or TV sets (or standard cars)?

Teslas are mostly made of aluminum, not plastic.  Guess what else is made of aluminum?  The Ford F150.

No one is saying that you can build a car (ANY car) without causing an iota of environmental damage.  However those saying that EVs produce more environmental damage are just wrong.

I read an article about a year ago (I think I posted it) that said another EV producer is recycling their batteries by putting them in campers with solar panels. Still plenty of juice left for that application.

Found one.
