Visiting the US for a few months, need insurance while there

Bottom line is we don't want to pay when you use our health system for free in case of accident or illness.

You're American. Don't you see how many hundreds of ER's have shut down over there because of uninsured people and the costs of medical care? We don't want that over here.

@ejh The cost of a flight back to the US, at least where my folks live, is now at about 2,000 Euros, round trip. That ammount of cash could buy some health insurance/travellers health insurance for sure.

No need to go back home to mountain bike or hike. Just get yourself out of that big city and explore!

Starting point for ideas:

mountainbiking: https://www.bike-magazin.de/touren/deutschland.html

hiking:http://www.germany.travel/en/leisure-and-recreation/hiking/walking.html

right in/near Berlin: https://www.outdooractive.com/de/wanderungen/berlin/wanderungen-in-berlin/1460603/

Germany has a gazillion marked hiking 'Wanderweg' trails. You can buy a map or book for them or even use some online apps to access them. No fancy gear needed. A partner to go with would be wise though. Or try a local Wandergruppe activity: e.g. for 3 Euros as guest 'Gast' you can tag along with the Berliner Wanderclub e.V., here's what's on in June:

Thanks to everyone who helped me answer my original question while sparing me the sanctimony. It's appreciated.
