Bomb chemicals found in Schweinfurt, Bavaria (4 people arrested)

Police found chemicals for building explosives in an apartment in Schweinfurt, Lower Franconia. 3 persons in custody as suspects, one person a witness. Police gives no information regarding planned attack / ideology behind arrested suspects. I invite TTEK (Toytown Einsatzkommando) to speculate.

Additional information by police: it was a homeless shelter (Obdachlosenunterkunft). All arrested persons (3 men and 1 woman) have German citizenship.

Meth lab? No information about drugs.

 

New details:

1. It was not a homeless shelter, it was a normal building where some apartments are used for housing homeless people.

2. The lady is the owner of the apartment.

3. One of the arrested persons told police that the explosives are his.

 

Doesn't look like terrorism to me, rather petty crime (like bombing of ATMs or DB ticket machines).

Most meth now is made with the shake and bake method which wont blow up your home, itll just give the maker horrible

chemical burns. Is meth a thing here? Is that what the Germans call “Pep”?

Dunno. I thought fentanyl and opioids were destroying the U.S.

 

You have to remember that the U.S. is huuuuge and while there are meth pockets in many places, in many there just aren't. Plenty of crap to go around.

 

You don't read a lot about the drug problems in Germany. There is a methadone clinic downstairs in my house. The don't actually advertise it. The name is Therapie Sofort.

Why do you need drugs when you have decent beer dead cheap?

 

On a serious side, there are certain programs to help junkies (often offered as alternative to prison sentence). Even in God forgotten Ukrainian province they get methadone at the hospital.

Since it hasn't been mentioned above, according to dpa the found explosive chemicals were mostly TATP.

 

Not a meth lab therefore.

TATP is pretty easy to make and set off. Its a common explosive for suicide vests.
