I woke up blind in one eye this morning

John, I think my daughter's dog Robby is sympathetic to your eye condition. He harrassed one of my cats yesterday and got his left eye scratched. Thankfully nothing serious compared to your eye condition, a superficial scratch, which only needs eye ointments, but it could have turned out far worse knowing how serious cat scratches on or near the eye can turn out.

If it had been closer to October you would have had the base of a really good costume...

Fingers crossed and all that!

Hang tough, John. It seems Greek health care isn't all that different from the German one. At least, they know what you need, have the gear they need to help you and know that it takes a specialist to operate the gear (and on your eye). It could've been way worse if they'd gone "oh, I don't really know how that thing works but I'll have a go"... have-a-go-ism is not something you look for in a health care system.

Try to chillax over the weekend, and my fingers are firmly crossed and my thumbs are pressed (whidch nmakes typing a bit aawjwkward(

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.  @john g., can't you get on a plane and fly to Germany?  This isn't sounding good.  I worry for you because my first husband had serious eye problems as well - eyes are, loosely speaking, an extension of the brain, and those eye problems often need immediate attention.

hello, dear katheliz! No direct flights to Germany right now. I couldn´t handle a 10 hour wait in Athens and then more tests in Germany and come back tomorrow etc..., my partner has Hexenschuss and we have 4 dogs. Too late for my brain, anyway!

But it´s tough..dark outside...and I took two dogs out but made a mistake and had two leads on one dog and none on the other, Walker. I screamed and Walker came back. Thank God.

Glad to hear you are okay John, and Monday is actually a good day to get operated on - the Docs are fresh from having the weekend off, and  are less likely to make mistakes than they tend to be on a Friday!

(well, that's my theory, anyway!)

Everything will be crossed for you again on Monday, but until then, try to enjoy the weekend as much as possible, and support Nicole too!!!

Thanks, luv! Hope it´s not his nameday then!! It´s more important than a birthday in Greece! If so, he´s on the booze!!!

I remember our first encounters on Toytown 10 or 11 years ago and you´d been in hospital..I remember...you went through a lot, I remember..

Hugs!

John

 Update...still not operated on...

Nikos picked me up at 8 this morning and we got to the other hospital. The receptionist: " what´s your tax number..? "

" dunno.somewhere here in my pocket amongst the medical paper work...can´t find it  (got stroppy and impatient ) "

She: " never mind..you´re in the system..you were at the other hospital yesterday "..phew! (I was surprised they´d connected... )

Get to see the number two doc,a lady... ( and we shook hands!! Wrong thread?:D)..she saw the paperwork, did another test and we had to wait outside, opposite a lady of around 90 on a trolley, possibly on her last morning and her daughter caressing her...sad.

Nikos fetches us a cappuccino with cinnamon...very nice. And cleverly decides to stay in case he drives back home and has to come back...over an hour each way...

Doc reexamines and says.. " we have the machine the other hospital didn´t have yesterday..but the doc  isn´t here today ..and we can´t operate... you´re still bleeding..come back Monday at ten..by the way, do you want to stay in hospital till Monday ?

" No...have you got anything to stop the bleeding "

" No, just use three pillows when you to bed ".

So Monday it is...I´ve always hated Monday morning meetings...ah well!

PS: still getting warm and kind messages from TTers ...you know who you are...thank you so much...I really appreciate your kindness...

Are you going to tell us why you hare Monday John

Glad to hear things are moving forward...

At times things come along to show us what we have...

OMG! I thought that time was of the essence with detaching retinas, bleeding, etc.

I did also wonder how the altitude (pressure) on a plane might also be detrimental.

You know that I'm wishing you all the best, my dear friend.

Jassou, jb! I " hare " Mondays cos the local farmers shoot hares!!! I don´t eat hares! They have such lovely ears!

Too true, jb...I looked at the lady and thought. " how has her life been? What is she feeling right now? Is she aware her daughter is there ?

This all awaits us all.

And I´m truly grateful that I am still alive.

Monday morning meetings: employee stuff! Commuting memories. What´s new this Monday? Nothing..apart from " have you hit these figures? "...probably not.

Reasons to live part one: and Walker is seriously ill:

I love him and he loves me: good deal? Yep.

My right eye is shitty..his whole body, his whole existence was shitty when we found him. He asks no questions..he just loves..my God, he doesn´t ask silly existential  questions and he refuses to pay Greek tax (clever!!):

Walker:

Thinking of you and your tortuous wait John but we send you best wishes from the stupid country that voted to leave the great people who live in the EU.   Forgive.
