Posted 21 Mar 2020 John sent a PM earlier on. I'll unscramble it and post it here so everyone knows he's OK. Quote I am reading with great difficulty using the ex bad eye. Have to go back to the doc on Monday. Have special eye drops. Expect more lasering Monday. Seems eye is still bleeding. Just have to be careful not to carry stuff or bend down, but easier said than done. Wishing you all well and stay safe.
Posted 21 Mar 2020 Please tell John, stop reading - listen to music or tv instead, do not bend down - let Nicole put his shoes and socks on and pat the dogs, do not lift things heavier than a cup of tea - let Nicole do that for a few days. Best wishes again

Love you John! Somehow you have a way with words, that I will never have. We are all hoping and praying that your eye will get better, but still you find the time to think of us - thankyou! I will just second your thoughts, if I may?, because I cannot put it as well as you can!
Posted 21 Mar 2020 I just talked to John over Skype. He will be lasered again on Monday, and he has read all our advice! I also updated him on the tax assistance etc. available because of the CV situation going on. (I also said: "John, didn't you get enough attention for your first eye, did you really have to go and do it AGAIN?!" He laughed. A true Brit. ) He sends everybody on Toytown his greetings, and the worst joke in the world, courtesy of his mad musician friend: "Why do Scottish pipers march while playing? ... ... ... To get away from the noise!!" (Wasn't me!! )

Hope you don't get hit too hard with this wave over there.

Posted 23 Mar 2020 Eye lasered again today and back again on Friday. Have a letter to show the police in case required. Eye has temporarily stopped bleeding..that is the key...being very careful and will only post once today Two things made me laugh today: the eye doctor told me my Venus is s till bleeding!! Nicole took the dogs to the beach and saw a couple siting a few feet away from each other and they both told Nicole she should remember to keep her distance. Nicole told them she was aware of that. Twenty minutes later, she saw the couple stand up and walk a couple of metres away from each other until they got to their car and then they drove off together!!! Oh, my tax accountant called me today and said self-employed will soon be entitled to a 2,500 euro one off hardship payment (not necessary to pay it back ) and application forms in Hamburg may be available around Friday. I don´t know what the rules otherwise are - check with your accountant. And stay safe!! Right, back to lying down and eyes closed.
Posted 23 Mar 2020 Glad to her progress in treatment. After my laser, I was told not to read for 24 hours, keep head down when sitting . All is good now- so am sure you will be fine.

I don´t know what the rules otherwise are - check with your accountant. Thank you to everybody who helped research this! It'll help out John. The hardship payment definitely applies to a lot of self-employed people (even foreigners) as long as they are registered taxpayers in Germany. Bavaria already has started payments, other German states will follow suit within the next week or so. Tax payments can also be pushed back for the self-employed without incurring interest! Keeping fingers and toes crossed for @john g.!!
