Aupair wanted

We are looking for our next Aupair. Start date: June 2018 for approx. 1 year

We are Oliver (10), Sophie (8), Peter, Stephanie and Smartie the dog. We are, or we would like to say a a pretty easy going family who enjoy doing many outdoor and sporting activities. Oliver is now at „Realschule“ and Sophie attends the local primary school. Our kids have grown up bilingual as Peter is from England. However most of our day to day life is in German.

We live in the beautiful city of Munich in Bavaria, Germany, to be exact in a town house in the southwest of Munich. We have the underground and recreational Parks on our doorstep plus Munich city centre is just a 25 min underground journey away.

We both work full time so our current au pair (Viktoriia) is at home for Sophie and Oliver in the morning (breakfast etc) and when Sophie comes home from school at lunch time. She makes lunch and supervises her homework, makes sure she gets to all of her various afterschool activites, such as athletics, capoeira etc.makes up fun games, helps keep there rooms tidy (this bit is very important to us, as our two are notoriously bad at managing more than a couple of hours without making a mess) plus taking care of there clothes washing. Taking Sophie out on afternoon trips to the swimming pool, cinemas or visiting one of our many museem‘s.

Olli attends an all day school so is only really around in the mornings ( not a great morning person, but then who is?)

What are we looking for?

Well, we would like someone who is not only just there for the kids, but who can also join in with us, be it on an evening or on a day trip to... become another member of 'the family'. One of our most important requirements is that you must have had some experience with kids and be aware just how difficult it can be. Being creative and able to take the time and build a relationship with the children is THE most important part of the job. Being independent and creative is a must when working with kids, ours are no different and respond really well to people who give them time and make life fun.

Someone who can sit down with them and just make up things, be inventive and fill their time with fun, also as we have a DOG (an Appenzeller) being dog friendly is a must, also some dog walking is required. We both run or bike with her, so someone who enjoys going jogging and keeping fit would be perfect.

While having fun is very important for us, their performance in school is also, you will need to supervise Sophie’s homework, encouraging her to do it neatly and help them study for tests etc. This next year is very important as it decides which future school she can attend, someone who takes this on board would be a great help

We are not looking for an employee but for a new friend for the children and us. Someone who helps in the family not because we tell him/her to, but because he/she wants to, and anyway we think that it is the normal thing to do whem you are part of a family.

We would expect you to:
- get the children ready for school in the mornings
- provide lunch for Sophie
- supervision of homework
- playtime activities with the kids
- dog walking in the mornings and maybe also in the afternoon too.
- light housework, putting on the washing machine regularly (you would be responsible for ensuring all the kids thinks are washed, no ironing required

Hi Stefferl - given that Aupairs are not supposed to work more than 6 hours per day and must attend a language course (which are usually 3-4 hours per day), you might need to be more specific in your post about when they are going to be able to do this, and how many hours the above will be - it seems they need to be around and available for most of the day.
