UK resident making a will, but with German property, pension, bank account etc.

1 post in this topic

I am a UK resident and national, living in UK and tax resident here. I am making a will (my first) in UK.

I own a house in Germany (in my name ) that has a mortgage on it, a small german pension and a german bank account. My UK lawyer doesn't have any experience of how to write the will to include the german assets, and has said I need to get advice from a german lawyer.

Has anyone been through this process, and has advice as to what I should do?

At the moment I am proposing to have only one will, which will be the UK one. In the Will at the moment  I have a statement declaring my Testamentvollstrecker. But I have no idea if this will be accepted in the german probate system.
