AFN transitions to all-HD

2 posts in this topic

On 12 December 2017 between 0000 and 0200 hours, the entire AFN television package switches to HD. The HD signals will remain on the current satellite, Eurobird 9. The older Scientific Atlanta satellite receivers will no longer work. The Cisco 9865 receiver will work, but settings must be changed. A new receiver, which should soon be available in the Exchanges, can also record AFN, which is the first time a DVR function is available. AFN radio and television signals may not available during the switchover.

unless one has been using a Tivo...

As for the changes... any existing Cisco box... "Theorectically" will have the changes forced into it.. so no usur intervention needed, unless they switch their systems off at the mains each night...

As many US Mill folks dont really understand the difference between DVB.s and DVB-s2... I wouldnt be surprised if after a week or so, AFN SD pops back up on a different frequency, thus giving the "non listeners" chance to catch up on Technology!
