Heartwarming, Spidey!

I've had 2 failures trying to get my brother's monster wood stove going after it died in the night. I scooped out all the ashes and am currently on my 3rd attempt. Luckily, they have normal heating as well.

This is the method our schornsteinfeger recommended to us. No idea if it is helpful in your situation at all.

That is the correct way of doing it as it causes less un-spent gas to exit via the chimney !

FF... see if there is a chimney regulator... if so... turn it down to 25%

My brother and his wife returned today and when I told him about the problem he said, "Oh yea. That's some wood I brought back from the mountain house, it is a bear to get started." He immediately proceeded to build a nice fire using some other wood. His is a giant wood stove on a brick floor with full brick surround. I never had problems lighting it before.

Thanks guys!

Ok.. so, I wont get permission at the moment to turn the middle barn into an apartment.. so I am about to turn it into a proper workshop/Mancave...

Once its established etc etc, then a simple change of use should be possible without too much stress and cost.

Hardcore is down and whacker plated... Drain situated where I "may possibly" want a kitchen sink... and Conduits laid for power.. Both 220v and low voltage solar power...

Plastic sheeting to go down tomorrow and the steel re-bar matting... then 4 days wait for 6m³ of concrete...

Lovin it!

Nice of him to keep it in pieces for you, then.

Just don't burn his couch or he won't have a place to sleep.

Muhahaha!! Reminds me of the animated scene (I forget the movie) where the gulls are circling and shrieking in human voices! "Mine! Mine!".

Yes, mine. As in my husband, good job, relieving health news, and last not least: I.Have.A.Life. :)

Burn, bitches! :D:D
