I can get pretty much all that stuff via TV player and TV catchup :P

BUT... and this goes for anyone who longs for UK TV, with perhaps the exception of BBC iPlayer and NowTV (if either work for you) the quality of catchup apps or live streaming websites is not a patch on the quality of a good DVB-S feed - I fully agree with you @SpiderPig that a dish is the best solution :-)

F1TV's picture quality is very good, both the live streams and catchup are on another level to what I used to get from Channel4's All4, but of course I had to pay Chase Carey a couple of handfuls of hard earned euros for the privilege

TV Catchup was shut down some years back.

Are they any current UK TV live streaming services, paid for or otherwise? Last time I tried with iplayer it complained that I was using a VPN.

Seems one of the best options is Youtube with BBC and Sky News.

My VPN does not get picked up very often, and when it is they are pretty quick on patching.  I can also get free to air from HD.  At least I could last time I tried, the grape vine has taken over the dish.  In Munich you would probably need an impossibly large dish to pick it up.

If you are willing to pay for a halfway decent VPN or DNS Service you can get UK TV via the internet, may not be full HD on everything but at least 1280x720 every day of the week. Very occasionally the Beeb and others may block the vpn provider but a way round usually comes quite quick. It can be awkward to set up on a router for a smart TV for example but no problem to individually get it working on a PC, laptop, tablet and even a smartphone.

My VPN is not cheap, about 100 euro a year.  But does 5 devices.   Which works well for us.  And yes, they patch rapidly when detected by the BBC, etc.

As I was half thinking about watching the football the other night (and discovering it wasn't on ARD or ZDF) I tried to VPN to the UK and use iPlayer and was quite surprised that it worked. I thought they'd be wise to VPNs by now. This is ExpressVPN.

Of course the football wasn't on the BBC either. I assume I could have used ITV, but CBA'd registering yet again.

As every there many many solutions

I have been using a firestick with a VPN ( PureVPN), I like this because I have a remote control unit in my hand and I watch TV on my TV. As with every VPN, some days it does not work, which is just tough, unless I go online and complain, then it normally works quite quicky after that. PureVPN has an app that is installed on the firestick, selecting the UK is very easy, no messing around with the router. Because I bought the 5 year, I pay around 1.50 Euro a month.

Because my 5 year period is coming to an end, I was looking at something like this

Best IPTV – IPTV Subscription (best-iptv.org)

They offer everything, Normal UK cannels, all of SKY + catchup, and if you want loads of foreign channels as well and is compatible with the firestick. The problem is, they are massily breaking copywrite regulations, so are at risk of getting shut down, just after you pay up, so you lose your money, or could on for years. But you pay for all this choice and easy setup with a high cost compared to a VPN.

There are loads of similar offers on the internet, many targeted at brits in Spain, some are much cheaper than these guys.

I know some people who have gone for a sandbox, about 10 Euro a month, they say its very good.

Now spiderpig is gone, we have to dig a lot more for our TV.

Spot on you do need to balance the reduced costs for a long subscription against the risk of the provider getting shut down or the service failing and many of them do, the VPN providers are usually safer but even here it can go wrong. I got caught out with UnoDNS which I had used for a couple of years without issue but then ran into problems with the Beeb a couple of months into a years subscription and they never fixed it!

I've used Getflix Smart DNS for past 3-4 years, been reliable for all UK TV, can get BBC, C4 on demand and live TV generally without issue.

Bought a 2 year subscription at a time (was somewhere between 50 - 60EUR, AFAIK).

On the occasions where BBC etc doesn't work, their customer services are very quick and responsive and 'fix' the issue quickly.

Probably not the best idea to name, on an open forum, those services that are still working well, it might well prompt an effort to block them! If anyone really needs the name then use PM otherwise maybe disguise it so people can determine what is meant but not a computer.;)

Actually, it's all over the internet if one searches.

I used "how to watch UK tv in germany" and got a lot of hits.

I just checked and, yes, there are a lot of hits.  But most have wrong information.

Plenty say: Get a VPN and use it.   Well, BBC has been fighting VPNs for a while and they seem to be winning, because I think they went the other way around, instead of blocking VPNs they are only accepting incoming connections from IPs that belong to UK ISPs.   There are very few VPNs that still work.   The one I use does not work anymore and they already gave up and said they won't play anymore the mouse and cat game with BBC.  So I think @keith2011 has a point.

Which is most likely why the popular ones get blocked most often!
