Trump's Presidency: Is this the next domino to fall?

Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson scoffed Monday at President Donald Trump’s repeated tale about meeting a “powerful, strong-looking” cop on a motorcycle in Chicago who could clean up the city’s crime in a single day.

Trump claimed that he met the officer three years ago and sent his name to Chicago officials. But they have no idea what he’s talking about, the Chicago Tribune reported.

“That person doesn’t exist,” Johnson said when a reporter asked about Trump’s story after the president’s controversial speech on Monday to police chiefs in Chicago, which Johnson did not attend. (See the video above at 10:05.)

“Look, we’re all adults here,” he added.

Trump first claimed to have met the unidentified super cop while he was campaigning for president — in an earlier retelling, Trump said the man claimed he could “straighten out” the city in one day, or “so quickly that your head would spin.”

The president referred to him again during his speech on Monday, though he hedged on the timeline. “One day, one week or one month — there was no doubt he could have done it,” he declared.

Monday marked Trump’s first visit to Chicago as president — an opportunity he used to trash the city. Johnson staunchly defended his police force after the president blasted Chicago as more dangerous than Afghanistan

Johnson pointed out that Trump had no problem relying on the very same police force he criticized in his remarks. “The same police officers the president criticized for their inability to protect this city spent all day protecting him,” the superintendent noted.

He also cited Trump’s boast about falling crime rates in the nation. Johnson said that it was Chicago that “set the table” for the trend. The city has had “double-digit reductions in the last three years” in major crimes, Johnson said.

Much still needs to be done in the city, Johnson acknowledged, but he said he was “exceptionally proud of the work being done by the 13,400 men and women of the Chicago Police Department.” The Trump administration has “hurt many communities in Chicago, but CPD is here and will always be here to stand up for them,” he vowed.

Hundreds of demonstrators hit the streets to protest Trump’s visit to Chicago, chanting “Lock him up!” and calling for his impeachment.

Oh, and earlier I questioned how they did the DNA testing so fast on Albaghdadi. Did some research and they have super cool small DNA testing machines now. They also had a pair of his underwear from which they retrieved his DNA. Ewwwwww!

Jeez, the poor lip syncing on that is hilarious. The first clip doesn’t even bother to show Obama speaking, just zooms to a photo of him as a kid. It is now possible to fake audio (sometimes with CGI lip movements superimposed). All you need is a minute or so audio of the person speaking.

Just wanted to add that in fact faked videos of Obama were some of the first demonstrations of the (deepfake) technology.

When President Donald Trump told the nation on Sunday morning about the death of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, he claimed the leader of the self-described Islamic State had died “like a dog” and a “coward” during a U.S. military operation in Syria — “whimpering and crying and screaming” as he fled into a tunnel before blowing himself up.

But top administration officials have questioned where Trump, who watched the operation unfold from the Situation Room, got those details of Baghdadi’s final moments. The livestream the president had been watching did not have audio and showed only overhead surveillance footage, The New York Times reported, citing military and intelligence officials.

“Those surveillance feeds could not show what was happening in an underground tunnel, much less detect if [Baghdadi] was whimpering or crying,” the Times said.

At least five current senior administration officials expressed bafflement at Trump’s “whimpering” remark, The Daily Beast reported Monday.

“Two officials recounted how after they heard [Trump’s announcement] on Sunday, they immediately began messaging each other questions and comments like, ‘uh where is he getting that?’” the news outlet said.

The Pentagon has also distanced itself from the president’s comments.

Asked on Sunday whether Baghdadi had indeed been whimpering and crying in the moments before his death, Defense Secretary Mark Esper said, “I don’t have those details.”

The following day, Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said he also didn’t have the same information as Trump but suggested the president may have gotten his information from military personnel on the ground.

“I know the president had planned to talk down to the unit and unit members,” Milley told reporters. “But I don’t know what the source of that was. I assume it was talking directly to unit and unit members.”

But two senior officials told the Daily Beast that, although Trump “could have spoken to commandos on the ground who carried out the raid ... that has not often been the case in past operations.”

Repubicans can stop crying and participate.

Hello Fraufruit, you payin' attention? Surely you jest.

Seriously, these guys cry when they are in the majority and squeal when another party has the temerity to win an election. (Which they manage to avoid by cheating on elections since Nixon (watergate), Reagan (October surprise), Bush jr (florida recount), Trump (russians, less votes then clinton... ) etc etc.)

The current crop of republicans are not really that interested in participating.

I am absolutely baffled that Trump thinks it's classified information to hide the NAME OF A DOG.   (Hey arsehole, my name is Max)

It is classified by the Pentagon not by Trump.

Know the dogs name know the handler.

Know the handler know the unit

People even say the name of the dog used in the Bin Laden raid given by the Pentagon is very probably a false name.

President Donald Trump's top adviser for Russian and European affairs is leaving his job at the White House, a day before he's scheduled to testify before the House impeachment investigators, a senior administration official said Wednesday.

Tim Morrison owes his job at the National Security Council to Trump, but his testimony Thursday in the House impeachment inquiry might be central to a push to remove the president from office.

A senior administration official said Morrison "has decided to pursue other opportunities." The official, who was not authorized to discuss Morrison's job and spoke only on condition of anonymity, said Morrison has been considering leaving the administration for "some time."

Morrison has been in the spotlight since August when a government whistleblower said multiple U.S. officials had said Trump was "using the power of his office to solicit interference from a foreign country in the 2020 U.S. election."

Now it's his turn in the impeachment probe's hot seat...

And how, prithee, is this one of Donny's Dominoes?

Thought it was just a pay dispute:

"Israel's embassies around the world closed over pay dispute"

Jerusalem (CNN)

Israel's diplomatic missions around the world closed on Wednesday as Foreign Ministry workers went on strike over a dispute about paying taxes on overseas stipends.

No one was allowed into the closed missions, and services for Israelis abroad were unavailable. Signs bearing the word "Strike" were hung on railings and the outside walls of the Israeli embassy in Washington.

A tweet from Elad Strohmayer, spokesperson at the embassy, said: "We're on strike! ... No consular services will be provided, and no one will be allowed to enter the embassy. Israeli diplomats are committed at all times to enhancing Israel's strength and resilience. Unfortunately, the decision of the Ministry of Finance does not leave us any choice but to take the above-mentioned action, since the vital interests of the State of Israel have been harmed."

A photo tweeted by Donald Trump on Wednesday is getting dogged by accusations that the pic is the very definition of fake news.

The image shows the president putting a medal around the neck of a Belgian Malinois credited with helping to capture and kill so-called Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

However, the photo didn’t really happen. Someone Photoshopped a picture of the hero dog over an Associated Press photo of 2017 Medal of Honor recipient James McCloughan, according to The Washington Post.

This side-by-side photo will show the similarities.

Although Trump tweeted the photo, it originated on the Instagram page of the conservative news outlet the Daily Wire.

The hero dog has never been to the White House and is back on duty despite being injured by an electric cable during an explosion, according to U.S. Central Command.

HuffPost reached out to the White House for comment on the decision to post a doctored photo, but no one immediately responded.
