Sir Kim Darroch resigns as UK ambassador to US

Quote

Sir Kim Darroch has resigned as UK ambassador to the US, amid a row over leaked emails critical of President Trump's administration.

The ambassador was branded "a very stupid guy" by the US president, after emails emerged calling his administration "clumsy and inept".

The Foreign Office praised Sir Kim's "professionalism and class".

The ambassador said he wanted to put an end to speculation, adding the leak had made it "impossible" to do his job.

In a letter to the Foreign Office, Sir Kim said: "Since the leak of official documents from this Embassy there has been a great deal of speculation surrounding my position and the duration of my remaining term as ambassador."

"I want to put an end to that speculation."

Some jealous arsehole probably leaked the email. But then, why should he resign? he only told the truth about the Tangerine Twat ;)

Because Trump's little right hand man (BoJo) here in Britain would of sacked him in 2 weeks anyway.

I think DT  is still trying to work out what "Inept" means.

He actually said 'unept' when he complained about the email :P

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Johnson had something to do with the leak, it would be nice if he could be connected to it...

@Wulfrun

Let's see if Trump has any influence over Boris in requesting that Nigel Farage takes the post of Ambassador, he will be out of a job in November.

The position of ambassador requires an experienced diplomat, not a failed politician, and most certainly should not be 'Trump's man'

Maybe Darroch was the leaker.  Or maybe he's falling on his sword to protect the real leaker.
In any case, he was merely telling the truth, which is a hazard for diplomats.

Ok the much anticipated Blue Wave happened .

Pelosi is leader of Senate (or is it Congress)?

Those moral upstanding Democrats now have the ability to do something.

So what do they do ....

They passed a bill for aid to ICE etc that includes absolutely no accountability for the detention centres.

Yay go Democrats.

Oh yes don`t forget the gold clap Pelosi gave to Trump that really showed em eh.

It is shameful that Kim Darroch has effectively been forced out for doing the job that diplomats are appointed to do.

Boris Johnson’s failure last night to stand up for him, and stand up to the behaviour of Donald Trump, spoke volumes.

The UK government are effectively Trump's bitch now, there are dark times ahead.

Things are moving over in the USA at many levels, if they move quick enough and get enough momentum to remove Trump is anyone's guess.

It's going to be a close call and will depend on who the Dems choose as their presidential candidate. Also on how much they savage each other in the race to become the candidate.

Once Trump is gone, life becomes harder for the Brexit crowd. That will happen in either one or five years (or so, may Trump refuses to leave the Oval office and barricades himself in).

Pelosi is the Speaker of the House, which is one chamber of Congress (the other is the Senate).

Unfortunately, the Republicans (with their Obstructor-in-Chief McConnell) still control the Senate and both chambers of Congress have to pass a bill for it to go to WH for signing (and whether Cheetolini does it or not depends on what Fox News tells him to do on any given day).

A recent poll said 60% of Republicans are on board with Trump's concentration camps, which means 40% aren't, and he only won the 2016 election by the slimmest of margins (~80,000 votes spread across three states). So that's a start at least, if all of his ethical and financial violations (not to mention all the rape stuff) don't bring him down first.

You know a little while back Donald informed us that "the moon is part of Mars". Seems he's not too clever when it comes to anatomy either.

Donald J. Trump Retweeted

God-willing / jihadi-failing I am going to be alive to see Trump in the White House Boris in Number 10 Netanyahu building Israel Bolsanaro, Salvini, Orban, Kaczyński, & the Right Minded bringing strength in depth What a time to be alive The fightback by proud nations is on

Bolsanaro a populist leader of Brazil is a vocal opponent of same-sex marriage, abortion, and immigration

Salvini, the deputy prime minister of Italy, called for Roma people to be expelled from the country

Orban, the authoritarian prime minister of Hungary, restricted free speech and said white Europeans are being replaced by migrants from Africa and the Middle East

Kaczynski, a polish minister, called LGBT people a ‘threat’ to Poland.

Trump is amplifying Katie Hopkins, a vile bigot. She called refugees & migrants “cockroaches” who were “feral humans” that were “spreading like the norovirus.” And he’s endorsing authoritarian populists, including Bolsonaro, who has advocated for torture & state-sponsored murder.

I saw a comment on another site saying that with his head as far up his ass as it is, he could just take a look around, but he's too lazy.

It's complicated for non-US citizens.

A modicum of congressional oversight. But Trump and his new BFF Barr are doing everything they can to stonewall, even ignoring subpoenas. I fear things will get worse before they get better.

I guess Keleth missed where the Democratic House didn't acquiesce to the border wall money that Trump could have had out of his GOP held legislature the previous two years.
