Recommendations for canoeing and camping trips in Germany

7 posts in this topic

Does anyone have any personal recommendations for place to go canoeing and camping for up to 5 days or so? It could be broken up with a hotel stay, sight-seeing, etc. My friends will be using their own canoe,

The Lahn valley is nice, I have done some as a day trip but I am not sure how far you can go on the river but I think quite a long way.

There is plenty of camping around too.  And you can do some trips to Wetzlar, Weilburg, Limburg, Koblenz to break up the journey if you wish.

I would also recommend MeckPom region.  For a 5 day trip you want some variety, lots of lakes and rivers.

I hiked the Altmühltal Panoramaweg which follows the Altmühl river in Frankish Bavaria, and saw quite a few people canoeing. Hiking the whole thing would probably take 10  days (200 km), so a Canoe trip would probably less than half that. Also saw lots of camp sites along the way, though I stayed mostly in B&Bs.

Found this site with Canoe rentals:
