Short term stay - accommodation and local info required

6 posts in this topic

Hi we are going to be in Berlin in July/August and want 3 or 4 weeks short term rent, or could housesit if anyone needed pets looking after etc.  Please get in touch! All the short rents seem to be based on people wanting it for a weekend or so, as an alternative to hotels, which for 3-4 weeks works out REALLY expensive. Any suggestions for alternatives?

What do you expect, firstly you're leaving it a bit too late and secondly this is the peak season with most schools in Germany closed during this period along with other countries.

Camping would be your only alternative if you're on a budget or think about coming after the schools reopen in September and October, the second half of October will be the Autumn break for 2 weeks.

What other local info do you need, Theatre times, bus timetable, is it safe at night? It's a bit of an opened ended question. Try the search function first as most have already been answered but some may also be a little out dated so you might need to ask.

Hi George,

Try the sublets section of Craigslist. Be aware, there are some scams on it, as well as legit offers. Don't pay for anything in advance and you should be fine.

Some airbnb places offer longer term lets too.

You can try the HomeCompany in Berlin, although most offers require a minimum stay of longer than 1 month.

I don't now if airbnb is illegal in Berlin but the offers are there.
