I wonder what Liz Truss is up to it has been very quiet from No. 10, perhaps she is still clearing up after Boris, you know collecting all the empty bottles, cleaning the red wine stains and trodden in crisps from the carpets, sweeping up the broken ornaments and glass and emptying all the overfull ashtrays!:)

The Tories have gone from austerity and living in their means to Boris with getting brexit done, levelling up and borrowing for investment projects to this massive U-turn. Sadly I doubt it will make any difference to the ongoing long term decline in the standard of living in the UK that they have presided over!

'A return to old-style Tory policies'

Shadow chief secretary to the Treasury Pat McFadden says reversing the National Insurance rise is the "legislative equivalent of digging a hole and filling it back in again".

The government is taking "an enormous gamble" with public finances by funding the measures through borrowing, he tells BBC's Breakfast.

"It's a return to some very old style Tory tax policies based on the belief that if you make those that are already wealthy even wealthier it will somehow trickle down to the rest of us," McFadden says.

McFadden adds the government "looks like they're not trying to raise any revenue at all" for the plan.

The trouble is that is supposed to be comedy, but I agree with every single word of it.
