I recommend that you look at some of the other headlines and stories from the "Genesius Times" to get some context.   😇

Appears that some people don't do sarcasm ...

Hard to distinguish between reality and sarcasm sometimes, but that shouldn't get in the way of cheap laughs.    😂

Trump announces a lawsuit against social media giants for violation of 1st Amendment rights.

Quote

Former President Donald Trump is suing Facebook, Twitter and Google's YouTube over their suspensions of his accounts after a mob of his supporters attacked the U.S. Capitol in January.

Trump filed class action complaints in federal court in Florida, alleging the tech giants are censoring him and other conservatives — a long-running complaint on the right for which there is little evidence and that the companies deny.

The suits call for the court "to order an immediate halt to social media companies' illegal, shameful censorship of the American people," Trump said at a news conference at his golf club in Bedminster, N.J. "We're demanding an end to the shadow banning, a stop to the silencing and a stop to the blacklisting, banishing and canceling that you know so well."

The long-shot legal actions are the latest escalation in Trump's long-running feud with the social media platforms that he used prolifically before and during his presidency.

...

Legal experts say Trump's lawsuits are likely doomed from the start because of the strong protections that both Section 230 and the First Amendment give the companies to decide what speech they allow.

"Trump has the First Amendment argument exactly wrong," said Paul Barrett, an adjunct law professor and deputy director at New York University's Center for Business and Human Rights. He described the lawsuits as "DOA," or dead on arrival, because the First Amendment applies to government restrictions on speech, not the actions of private companies.

The filing.

Does Trump have a chance of winning his lawsuit against Zuckerberg and Dorsey?

Short answer? No.

Long Answer?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Pro-Tip: Trump always tries to distract from bad news about him - in this case, the criminal charges his company faces - by doing something stupid and outrageous. The bigger question is whether the lawyers who wrote this tripe have their strip-mall-in-Florida offices prepared for closure when the all get suspended.

I am not American but I always thought the First Amendment protects private people from government censorship, not private people from other private people.   And didn't the Republicans made super sure that private businesses have the right to choose their customers? Because of gay wedding cakes?

Yup. Private businesses have the right to refuse service to anyone, unless prohibited by Title 7 (anti-discrimination) provisions. Especially if they repeatedly violate the terms of service, as is the case here.

They can't ban gay wedding cakes and eat them too. Or something like that.

Interestingly the cases were filed at near enough the same time Ghislane Maxwell had all/some of her personal/private documents ruled to be revealed by the court. It may not be anything about him but he was known to attend private parties with them.
I think (stand to be corrected though) that before he won the election there was something about a case against him and Epstein by a girl - could that be ressurected?

This will make you cringe.

The UK's Dominic Raab humiliating Independent MP Claudia Webbe.  She was previously Labour before being suspended due to harassing someone.

Is it any wonder Labour are where they are with this caliber of politician.

Embarrassing!

Everyone has the right to say stuff, others have the right to ignore them and let they shout in to the wind and cry about it.

I think the problem is that those going on about wanting to ban gay wedding cakes is that they want one for themselves, but they've shut themselves in the closet so hard, they can't get out.

Well, Trump's personal wealth was tied to his brand (note use of past tense). His brand is nearly completely devalued at this point. Furthermore, should his brand lose value, I think we all know that he won't be able to pony up the somewhere around $590 million in loans coming due in the next 12 months. So, you are likely right.

I think this should be moved to the 'Trump indicted' thread, as he is no longer a politician
