Amazon order was cancelled - no explanation

8 posts in this topic

We have been looking out to replace our old fridge-freezer (shoot me now) and today I came across an amazing deal on Amazon.

Ordered it straight away at around 09:30 and received email conformation that the order had been registered.

At 12:30 received an automated notification from my credit card company to inform me that the full payment had been accepted. Checked Amazon a little later to verify that the order was being processed.

At 16:55 I then received a message via Amazon that the order had been cancelled. No explanation why but most likely that the price the item was offered at was too low and the company decided not to honour the sale.

So, do I have any rights to insist the item be sold to me at the price advertised and accepted and charged to my credit card?

Many thanks in advance.

In my experience, Amazon's customer service has been pretty good. I'd give them a call and complain, especially if the item was being sold directly from them and not through a third party.

In my case it was purchased through Amazon from the supplier. I guess I need to contact the supplier, or should I see if Amazon have any leverage?

Call Amazon. I have always found their customer service good.

I have had an order cancelled- apparently the item was sold out, so credit applied and I was told I would be informed when back in stock.

maybe others saw the good deal, so it was sold out?

This is model change-over time for refrigerators so you may have gotten caught up in a supply problem with the old model. Very often the Marketplace sellers will list items they do not have in stock or will list an item and try to get you to pay them directly for it. You can easily verify by looking at the reseller's name and going directly to their own website to see if the item is still listed there or if an own website even exists. Either way, what was the item? Maybe TT can find it for you at as good a price.

Did you order from amazon – or from some marketplace seller? Would the fridge have been unusually cheap? Then amazon might have detected a scam and protected you, there's more and more fraudsters active the recent months.

Have you talked to amazon meanwhile?

Got round to calling Amazon. Apparently the order was cancelled because they suspected the seller was acting suspiciously.

Thanks for your comments. Not sure why anyone was red arrowed as I was grateful for any feedback.

Cheers!
