Brexit: The fallout

There was a report that they were at a 25% v 35% position so a lot of observers reckoned the difference could be split and we could move on but we're at more like 25% v 60%. Fishing is worth almost nothing to either side's economies by the way. It's just symbolic but neither side seems prepared to back down now. I think the EU has actually resigned itself to no deal with talks continuing under WTO terms.

More on that Gibraltar joining Schengen story:

https://www.thelondoneconomic.com/politics/gibraltar-to-join-schengen-meaning-border-checks-for-brits-but-not-spain/22/12/

So Brits arriving in Gib by air from the UK will now need to show their passports while the land border just to the north of said airport will be open to Spain and the rest of the Schengen zone.

I don't remember that on the side of a bus either.

You are basically saying Brexit = Corona which is absolute manure.

Nope not saying that at all.

Just that the govt in their handling of Brexit and Corona have shown themselves to be utterly incompetent and could have used a guiding hand from somewhere. This govt specifically with Johnson leading won re-election because of Brexit and their promises and every other incompetence was ignored and that´s come back to bite the country in the arse in dealing with covid.

The minute Cummings broke the rules and got away with it was the minute many people decided to also think fuck the rules.

Levels of racist invective on the comments sections of the Express directed at the French, Irish and Germans at record highs.

They are in full scale melt down over these sovereign EU countries closing their borders to the UK.

They especially can't understand (most probably due to them having shit for brains) how a country like Ireland is defying the requests of the EU Commission to relax the travel ban on the UK. They were utterly convinced that Ireland just did what the commission said.

Nobody warns them Brits!

That Mr. Hitler tried it on and he got his arse kicked!

Stop it ffs.

You and Farage etc think it`s "cool" to harp on about the war.

Please go and learn history before you start mentioning it and find out what was really involved in fighting it.

Lets not talk about the war here, it does not help

Some people here just bring it up, because they think its fun, which its not because a lot of people are going to suffer because of BREXIT == loose jobs

there are some posters on this site that do not realize that travel occurs both ways, between the EU an the UK and just do not understand that truckers can travel on both sides of the road. Basically stupid.

We are not going in a real war here, with real bombs, but a lot of people will suffer economically

Just remember some people are only here to annoy other people here, just ignore them, and argue with the sensible people here or you just waste your breath

Charities now feeding stranded truck drivers.  It is dreadful that when government were planning all these lorry parks and stacks, that they did not plan for the drivers to eat, to have toilets.

I hope the average Brit isn't expecting the government's other Brexit contingency plans to be executed any better. They give no fucks about them either.

The general gist of the message was, you can't have your cake and eat it

Maybe that needs to be changed to, you can't have your fish or eat it!

That and because the alternative (Corbyn) was just as unpalatable - or even worse.

New UK covid testing facilities just a few metres away from the cliff-edge in Dover:

I'm reading on other forums that the French weren't inclined trust the Johnson government to be truthful about testing.

I guess electing a proven liar who went on to repudiate an agreement signed with the EU (thus breaking international law) does have consequences after all.

Otherwise this could probably have been sorted faster.

No, but going on about it and the world cup helps identify the people who are so winning at life that their highest achievements were things they didn't take part in as they hadn't been born yet.

If you ever wondered if it was possible for people to win harder than trying to attach themselves to other people's achievements, well, this is it.

Nothing says 'winner' like that.
