Christmas Markets in Munich - need an update

3 posts in this topic

Hi folks. It's been 10 years since I've been to the Christmas markets in Munich but I'm going this year for the opening weekend. I'm just curious if someone can tell me if the stalls have joined the 21st century yet and take cards? Or is it still mainly a cash game? What's the rough cost of a Gluehwein nowadays? I'm bringing friends along and I'm the main tour guide, so are there any new markets I should know about? Plan on hitting Marienplatz, Chinese Tower, Tollwood, but any others I should really take them to? Do they still have the medieval market by Odeonsplatz?

Any updates to my decade-old knowledge would be gratefully received.

Hi stranger, good to see you back in town.

Not too much has changed, this is Munich after all.

When it comes to the gifts and more expensive stalls you'll find quite a few do take cards.

Personally I like the markets in Rotkreuzplatz and Weissenburgerplatz even though they're two of the smaller ones.

Yes, the medieval market is still going just off Odeansplatz.

Have fun.

Hello hello! Nice to see a familiar name. Ah yes, Rotkreuzplatz, I don't know how I forgot that one considering I used to live near there.
