Germany from different points of view

16 posts in this topic

Writing Project „My Germany“ – The Multicultural Women’s Group Cologne invites: - Germans - Immigrants who are already living in Germany for a couple of years - Refugees, in one word, everyone who has something to say about this topic to participate. If somebody’s knowledge of German isn’t sufficient yet please let me know in which language you would like to write your story and we try together to find someone who can translate it.
We invite everyone to write down what kind of positive and negative experience they had in Germany, to describe the country from their point of view and which impression they have comparing it to other countries. Funny and comical stories are also welcome. The stories can be autobiographical, but you may also make something up.
So grab a pen and let your imagination run wild or talk about your experiences, whatever you want to! Add a dash of melancholy or joke or whatever you like most and share your experience with others.
In case a book will be made of your stories, all names will be anonymized. AIMS: With this project we want to - make people talk to each other - make people understand each other - Improve our intercultural competence and tolerance, in the sense of a worldwide solidarity and being aware of the fact that we are primarily world citizens who, however, do not want to forget their past but share it with others.
Please send your stories to Davorka Schleiff, c/o Multikulturelle Frauengruppe des Kinderschutzbund Köln, Rolshover Str. 7-9, 51103 Köln, e-mail davorka2005@yahoo.de by 31st December 2016.
If you know other people who might want to participate, please also pass the invitation on to them. If we get enough stories for printing a book, we’ll be invited to the book presentation in Cologne.
Deadline for submitting the stories is 31st December 2016!!!

If it turns in to a book do we get any cash or our contribution (I assume the goal of the book is to also be sold)?

This is a mostly anti-foreigner forum despite the fact the most users are foreigners. "The good ones", as they think about themselves, and the foreigners they hate are the bad ones.

If only everything any of us have written on TT about our German experiences could be copyrighted.

It is copyrighted.

Our smart "digital" EU commissioner Oettinger also wants to copyright links with citations, so basically anyone you quote here can sue you copyright violation in future. Germany was so cool before migration, 99 year olds ruled the country, smoking allowed everywhere inside, drunk driving tolerated, Beamte didn't give a shit about your problems, you needed to Abmelden before Ummeldung, death certificate not issued without birth certificate and the cars didn't have that devil electronics because the robots want to kill us!

The main purpose of this project is not to earn money, but a better understanding between people of different ages, origin…black + white, rich + poor, to reduce prejudice….and to give people a mouthpiece to make their voice heard. ( Of course, just saying “Merkel ruined Germany” doesn’t change anything; an explanation why you think so would be helpful. )
Of course, if we do make money with it, it will be distributed among all who participated. Unless we ( the majority of all who participated ) decide to donate it to needy children ( it is organized by a group which is associated with the Kinderschutzbund. )

I like the idea of donating the proceeds of the book that way.

However I would ask why this wasn't all cleared up in the first post. Although I am not sure if it is fair, or even legal, to impose that donation on any contributor that may wish to have the cash.

My guess is that any donation would have to be on a individual basis - people may have other charities in mind or (as said) want the cash for themselves.

And who might the needy children be? German teenage girls who now need to buy full length swimsuits instead of bikinis after they got touched up in pools?

It was announced by a volunteer group. In Germany it's self obvious that this is something non for profit and the contributions are for free.

Demanding money from volunteers is ridiculous.

See, 'self obvious' is one of those phrases that crops after it has been shown to not be.

Its use says 'wasn't obvious'..

There a lot of charities that use volunteers that are profit making organisations..

For a book to be non profit would infer that no money would be make from the sale of the book. The first post just asks for contributions, later we learned what would happen if the book made a profit.

Given that the second post said that any profit would either be distributed among those contributing or given donated kind of says this is no a pure not for profit gig..

That's fucking embarrassing, that!

If you two are on the bones of your arse why don't you get a job!

Also, I would very much like to read your short stories.

Write a short story for us all, please.  :)

Can you do it, or are you just complaining?
