Sitting in on Frankfurt University classes

2 posts in this topic

Hiya, while my work visa processes - I'm interested in sitting-in a few university classes in Frankfurt. Not sure what - just something to kill the time and re-energize my brain.

Does anyone know if this permitted in Germany? Who should I contact. where should I go?

Big thanks,

Cheri

You can attend classes with the Professor's permission as a Gasthoerer (do a search on the university website for that and I'm pretty sure it will turn up) - normally there's a small fee maybe 50 euro per course.

Or if your German's good enough to pass the entrance exam you could enrol properly and then you get all the fringe benfits of the travel tickets, student status etc. They don't seem bothered about people just disapppearing after a semester or two and so long as you pick your subjects carefully, no compulsory courses etc.
