Posted 25 Feb 2016 Hi TTers, I had been moderately active in Hamburg since moving to Germany, but after moving to Schleswig-Holstein a couple years ago I really fell off the radar (mostly due to a new baby and too much work). That said, I was wondering if there are any other native English speakers (or others that speak English) in or around Elmshorn/Tornisch/Uetersen area. Just looking for anyone interested in hanging out (starting a stammtisch, playing tennis, doing a movie or game night now-and-again, etc.). We have a 2.5 year-old daughter, but we can plan things with/without kids accordingly. Anyway, let me know if you're interested. Mike
Posted 25 Feb 2016 A handful of miles to the South-East but our daughter is 23 (years not months) so I'm afraid we are well out of your age range...
Posted 25 Feb 2016 Hi HEM, I keep meaning to make it out to the airstrip for a gliding tour. At least I know there's someone in the general area. :-)
Posted 25 Feb 2016 Come April just look upwards! Actually we try to commence operations the weekend before Easter but often not everything works 100% at the beginning (winch, cars, field telephone etc.) & we all need to get some practice in in order to meet the necessary passenger-carrying requirements. Easter is very early - it could be 4 days of flying but equally 4 days looking at snowdrifts or a sodden runway. How good are your German speaking skills?
Posted 26 Feb 2016 My German is conversational but not completely fluent, by any means. I'll be in Denmark for the Easter Holiday anyway, but maybe soon afterwards when the weather gets better I can swing out there. I only live around 8 minutes away from the airstrip.
Posted 5 Mar 2018 Hello, Seems like it's been a while since the last post, but giving it a new shot. My wife and I are new to Tornesch. I'm from the US and she is German. We have a 19 month old daughter and would love to meet other parents in the area. Cheers!
Posted 7 Mar 2018 Hi Jayden, Welcome to Tornesch (note: since my initial post we, too, have moved to Tornesch)! I'm always down to meet new people. As we now have a 4 year old and a 15 month old, other parents are ideal. If you're interested, maybe we could all meet up for a coffee or something. I think our weekemd is pretty busy, but I'm sure we can arrange something in the near future. Mike

I haven’t gotten around much.
Posted 7 Mar 2018 Have you been in Germany/Tornesch long? And whereabouts in Tornesch do you live? We live near the Lidl - Kuhlenweg 5a. If close by (and the weather is ok), maybe we bring our girls to one of the playgrounds in the area. Just a thought.

We live on Nixenring (townhouses) just down street from Lidl. I only know of one playground close to the kindergarten.
Posted 30 Jun 2018 We’re moving to Elmshorn in 3 weeks. My almost 4yr old daughter is very social and would love to join any play dates in the park. She’s enrolled in a German speaking Kita, but I think she will miss speaking English. Would love a meet-up sometime between 21 and 27 July to give her something fun to do just after we arrive.

Our daughter turns 2 end of July. May be a little young for your daughter but willing to socialize.
