New Years Eve Fireworks in Hamburg

2 posts in this topic

After being in the sticks for the past years, we're thinking of making a visit to the metrolops (sic)

to see the fireworks on New Years Eve (Elbe - not the Alster).

Memory and Google tell me it is

1) packed

2) crowded

3) very full...

I know has a list already - but here on Toytown I expect special, insider knowledge...

Willing to trade off a "excellent viewing" for "breathing space" :-)

Anyone with any tips where we can get a good view but without standing on each others

feet and not having other people's fireworks chucked at us ?

In case someone is looking ahead to next NYE...

Went with 12yr old son and some adults to the model trains at Miniature Wunderland - which closes at 20:00

Then walked to Rudolphs (Hafen City) restaurant for their special NYE meal. (Son got a pizza so happy there)

After that we walked back to the Kehrwiederspitze where it wasn't too crowded (could easily get to a good vantage point )

Arrived on site at 5 to midnight.

Watched the fireworks for a good 45 mins - welcoming the new year in with the family.

Probably seen enough fireworks for the next 5 yrs now :-)
