Stammtisch in Heilbronn once a month

9 posts in this topic

Hello,

I've just joined the forum and I live in Heilbronn (have been here since Nov 2002).

There's an English Stammtisch that meets on the last Friday of every month at Trappensee Gaststätte / biergarten in the summer.

I've only made it once so far but they are all very nice + friendly so I'd recommend that.

The Stammtisch is made up of expats and their German partners and a couple of Germans there to practice English.

Otherwise there's an Irish pub in Bad Friedrichshall .

That's right, the Stammtisch is still going strong. There were about 10 people there this month.

By the way, there are also annual events in the Heilbronn area for Expats. There were over 50 people at the annual barbeque a few weeks ago and there will be a get-together in the run-up to Christmas.

It's all very informal and easygoing.

If anyone wants to get in contact, come to the Trappensee on the last Friday of every month after 8pm, and look for anyone speaking english.

Cheers

Many of the Stammtisch people who have lived here for a longer time are good friends with each other and have regular contact away from the "get-togethers". It has developed over many years. They really do help each other and provide a support and information network. I've heard about all sorts of other stuff that they do together. The Stammtisch is only the first level.

Then there are the people like me who are <relatively> new here and haven't developed close ties with them.

Just because they live here and speak english, doesn't automatically mean that you suddenly become good friends with them and would go on a ski-trip or the like. But they are there and are open to meet new people and engage in social activity. So that is a start at least.

That's my 2 cents worth anyway.

Hi, just wondering if this Stammtisch is still active as the last post was in 2007... my husband and me have moved to the area last year and are looking for english speakers in this region.

Do you know where and when the group of ex-pats is meeting? I have been wondering if there was such a group here in Heilbronn and just tonight I saw this post. I have lived here for three years and have been learning German. Some of my family also live here but I would like to make some friends outside of the family group. I know a couple of others who might also be interested.

Hi Crystalblue,

The Trappensee group is still meeting as far as I know.

The details were mentioned in a previous post on this thread.

Also, the Heilbronners of Leisure have a regular get-together.

Here is a link with more details

I've never been there but I mean to go sometime.

Apart from that, most of the people who have been here for a very long time have stopped going to the "open" events and still meet as groups of private expat friends. But they are out there.
