Private language tutors in Frankfurt

34 posts in this topic

I want to learn German and have decided to go the one-to-one personal tutor route. Where do I find a freelance teacher? I've looked in the British Bookshop window and I know that most language schools offer one-to-one, but is there anywhere else I can try?

Try contacting the local university they'll put in touch with some eager students.

If you are still looking I know a tutor that I had at one of the language schools who also freelances - a number of other people who have had him at the language school have all sought additional private lessons from him which I took as a good recommendation. Mail me and I can put you in touch with him

I am looking for a tutor for taking German lessons at my home in Frankfurt together for me and my wife. Can anyone recommend such tutors who will come home to teach and what are usually the costs for such tutors (say, 6 hours a week for 10 weeks).

Hi - looking for someone experienced in teaching German who has the flexibility to meet several times a week, mostly in the evenings in our home in Kelkheim. My wife and I recently moved here with our kids and my wife is looking to learn German. Taking card of the kids during the day leaves little time however. Any thoughts or suggestions? How has this been tackled by others? We have an allowance from my job that should give her a very strong German base.

Thanks,

Miles

Hello Miles,

My husband and i are currently learning German from an amazing teacher. Her name is Brigitte Loreth and she runs her own Language institution. Not only is she a wonderful teacher but she is very flexible. She comes to my house twice a week whilst my toddler is napping and she also goes to my husbands work so he can have his lessons after work. She really is like sunshine in a day!

Here is her information

Good luck

Hi

I'm looking for a german teacher to do some private lessons with. I'm not interested in anyone who does grammar-based lessons though. Must be fun and innovative. Any recommendations would be much appreciated!

Cheers

Steve

the guy i mentioned above often does his classes surrounding football matches, cultural things and pubs etc. He reckons you learn more German one hour in the pub than 10 hrs in the classroom

I spent a year in Frankfurt (2009) and took private lessons at home with Brigitte Loreth at Prolog. Given I was a total beginner, we spent a lot of time working on my speaking and pronunciation and I found that my understanding of German improved dramatically and my vocabulary accelerated. I was very pleased with her service,in particular the variety of teaching methods used. If I was still in Frankfurt I would definitely continue with my German language studies. Very highly recommended. Her details are: 06965008663 and loreth@prolog-institut.de
