8mm camcorder tapes to dvd conversion

Has anyone experience with having this done professionally and can recommend a service here? I just need a straightforward conversion without fancy editing. Lots of companies advertise but it's always good to have a tip. 

 

I'd love to see and hear my lovely grown sons in their tiny days again!

I use http://www.roxio.com/.  An adapter plugs your camcorder into your PC, creates a file of the tape and then burns a DVD.  Once you have the software (includes a transfer cable) you can do it all yourself.

Thanks for replying, cj. My son who is teccy did have a go but it seems that there is part of the camcorder charger that's missing. I know I'll end up screaming if I start down that road!   I'd really rather just get it done, even though I know it'll cost!

Lots of places do it. Try your local camera shop or online. It's about 70 cents/minute direct to DVD and can be a lot more if you want it in high quality AVI editable format. Search for "super8 or video digitalisieren".
